Will water holding tank freeze?
Is going to drop into the low 20's at Fort Worden in Port Townsend on Saturday. I'm in my 2014 Mountaineer. They turned off the water so we're relying on our RV water tank. Shouldn't I be worried about that 60 gallons freezing and are there any precautions I can take

I think as long as you use your furnace you will be ok.

We have survived those temperatures without problems. Running the furnace is your best bet.

Use your LP furnace, you will be fine.

I agree, been there and done that. The furnace is your best friend in freezing weather.

60 gallons of water in a tank will take a long time to freeze at temps in the 20's. Especially since it is in a tank and not spread out in a thin layer. Yes, the furnace will also keep it liquid. Thermo 101.

When we were living in the unit full time we did not have any problem with the tank until it got down to -10. Then it froze up.

We had to do that a few times in the past three weeks. I set the furnace thermostat for 64 and ran electric heaters in the bedroom set at about half heat output. The furnace kicked in periodically, but not as much as without the electrics running, and kept the basement & tanks from freezing. Outside water hose froze, but thawed by noon.

Last year in Ohio we had about three days where nights were in the teens and days below freezing. With the furnace we had no issues with freezing tanks.
