Ceiling light covers
OK...trying to get the round light covers on the ceiling in my 3100RL off so I can clean them, and I can't seem to get them off (afraid I will break them). Any quick tips?

If they are the flat glass covers, you just unscrew them counter-clockwise. The fixture may turn a little, but they will eventually come off. They are a bayonet type connection.

Don't know what year your unit is Big Jim, but if you are talking about the flat LED type, good luck. I have tried everything short of taking a hammer to them. I even tried a rubber oil filter wrench to twist them slightly so they would unhook....no luck. I have an appointment next month at the dealer and I can't wait to have a tech show me how to remove them.

I used a rubber jar lid opener pad for better grip. Worked!

As mentioned, if it's the LED lights you are referring to, MOST of ours come off easy. However, the one in the bathroom just would not come off, no matter how hard I tried. I finally got my very large pair of slip joint pliers, and very gently gripped the edges, twisted slightly, and off it came. Turned out that they had screwed the base so tightly to the ceiling, and one of the tabs was bent slightly, it put it in a bind. Fixed all that, now it goes on and off easy. Conversely, the one in the kitchen, two fingers and off it comes!

I must have special one off lights mine will turn until next year w/o coming off. I have to pull straight down on the glass cover. Takes a bit of pressure but they pop right off.

Mine are on tight as well , but they will unscrew, as mentioned. Don't try to pry them off. You only have to turn them about a 1/4 of a turn, and there off.
