Firestone Airbags
I am considering installing Firestone Airbags on my 2500 dodge. I guess what I would like to know is what is everyone's opinion of these and what would be option #2 if not the air bag. I need to bring the back of the truck up a little and a little more height in the back as well. Advice appreciated.. Joe

Firestone airbags are on the F250 that I have for sale now and my new 2015 F250 will have them on it by next week. I pull a 38 ft Big Sky and the bags were great on the old truck, I am sure they will also do a good job on the new truck.

I assume you mean bringing it up a little with the 5'er on. I opted for Timbrens. Much cheaper and they fixed my "squat problem" Jim

We have had them on both our dualies. Did not need them for payload capacity but to keep the truck level with the pin weight of the 3400 and the 3402. We had no problems with them at all.

thanks for all the replies. I have heard good and bad. What I am looking for is to bring the back up and not payload value. One of my local vendors and installers here in the mid-west part of Missouri is asking me about $925. installed. Does that sound about right for what the rest of you have been paying? again, thanks for the feedback. Joe

The airbags are not difficult to install and save a few bucks. I have them installed on my 2500 CTD and they are great.

I installed them on our dually, and worth every penny. No back end drop.

I had them on my 2007 Ram 2500 and they did not hold up. Bag developed hole. Replaced them with Timbrens and was happy. $925 installed is WAY TOO MUCH....that means they are charging about $600 labor for 2 hours!
Do yourself a favor and check on the PacBrake airbags. That is what will soon go on my 2012 F350. Look at the difference in bag construction. Amazon $285.00.

Installed Firestone air bags on my 2011 Ram 3500 Dually. Like others said they are easy to install yourself. I never did them before and was able to follow the directions and it took me about 2 1/2 hrs start
to finish. I manually fill mine with a little air pump to 45 lbs with
the 5er on the truck. They are great to level the truck and ride and handling are greatly improved. For me it was well worth the $310.00 I
paid on Amazon for them. Hope this helps.

$925 installed ???????? Makes my eyes hurt just reading that figure! Like said ... it's a straight forward install unless you have zero mechanical ability. Save some fuel money and spend an afternoon getting to know your truck a little ... no special tools required.
I've had them on for about 3 years ... work as advertised. Most failures are due to running them with no air when not towing anything. You need to keep 5-8lbs of air in them when not towing.

$925.00 must be for the air bags and a motor air pump also installed. My Firestone air bags ran at a little over $400.00 installed. I fill my air bags with a seperate air compressor.

Joe, I went to a shop that had a history of installing a lot of Firestone bags in my central Illinois area. For the bags, in-cab compressor, and labor I think it was just under $600.00. I wanted the option of putting air in or taking air out while running down the road, depending on road surface. I agree that the $925 is a little high.

we have them on our f250 and love them they work great for leveling out and smoothing the ride. $925. way to high, if your handy at a drill and a couple of wrenches they are pretty easy to install, make sure when you order they are for the yearof your truck, the brackets are specific to year model's they easily bolt on to the frame and we ran our lines to the back of the liscense plate top holes easy to air up with a air hose.

Hi Joe, I will be home in a couple of weeks. We could back your truck into my garage and make it a Saturday project. $925 is nuts. About $300 on Amazon with free freight.
Will need to wait for the temps to drop tho. @ 9,400' and have gotten used to the 30-40 degree mornings and cool days.

Had them on last two trucks and will have them on next. Mine have been on this truck for 12 years with the only problem being is a cracked air line that was a quick fix.

I'm also considering putting these on my truck as the back end sags more than I'd like and I don't want to create a bad set in the rear springs.
I know they are bolt on.. but my question is.. Has anyone installed these on a p/u that has the B&W Companion hitch installed. I would guess that the mounting holes are covered by the B&W plates that attach to the frame.
