It starts in NC and runs through Va. I would suggest finding several places along its length and venture from them if I wanted to see it all. What a beautiful place and especially at this time of year. So many places and great things to visit. However you choose to do it, you will not be disappointed.

I live about 10 miles from the park way, was up there today after I talked to Hook (Larry). Thanks for the call Larry. The leaves have just started to turn and should be at there peak by about the end of the month. That seams to come later as the years go by. If you have never been on the park way it is worth seeing.

I agree. It's my 2nd favorite place next to Colorado. If I didn't live in Colorado, I'd live there.

There is a cg just off I-77 at Galax, VA. Used to be called Fox Trail or something like that. Last I heard KOA may have bought it. Not a bad place. We have stayed there several times.

We stayed at the KOA in Fancy Gap and it was very nice - lovely owners/managers. Would highly recommend them.

Bear's Den is the only private campground with a direct entrance from the BRP. It's near Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland, NC.
