Blackwater dump valve
Opening the blackwater dump valve is becoming very difficult and I am concerned that the cable will break. The mechanism seems to be secured between two fanges which are bonded to the drain pipe itself. Is it possible to undo the four bolts that secure the valve halves together and slide the blade and seal assembly out to clean and/or replace them?

Try pouring cooking oil in the tank just after you dump and are about to drive. It will slosh around and lube the interior of the tank causing things not to stick as well plus lubricating the knife valve. At next hookup slide the valve back and forth through the oil as it departs . Hop this helps.

It is possible to remove the valve assembly by removing the 4 bolts, however remember you are dealing with your sewer connection and want to make sure it is well flushed out and clean. I had mine out because it was very stiff and would not close completely. I found undissolved paper in the groove where the blade closes which would not allow it to close completely and was making it stiff to open/close near the end of the stroke. It was difficult to get the assembly back in alignment so would remove it only as a last resort.
I also took the handle off and disconnected it at the convenience center and raised it as much as I could and put light engine oil down the cable. It takes a while to seep down but it sure helped on mine.

Had that problem on last trip. Found out the "hard way"! Sewer (black) filled sewer pipe, when lid was removed by DW, we got a surprise ! I went to camper world bought an in-line sewer shut off valve and installed it at sewer pipe termination, it has bayonet fifting for lid and sewer hose! Now we have a "second safety device" should one of the other three not seal properly! Cheap insurance fr $14.00!
