Roof mold
Since I have been parked in one spot for a year other than one trip, the roof has been shaded most of the time. After my last cleaning, 2/3 of the roof has black mildew spots where it was not exposed to the sun.
The Dicor web site recommends Tilex bathroom cleaner to remove the mold after first cleaning the roof. I use Blue Dawn for that part of the cleaning process. I'm a little skeptical about the Tilex use. Has anyone had success with it or do you have another product that will remove the mold such as diluted bleach.

Dave,
When I have noticed the mold or algae growing on the roof I have used a 50/50 bleach solution first to kill off the spores, rinse off and then use the Protect All Rubber Roof Cleaner and Treatment. We have never had any issues using this method.

I've also used the bleach angle, basically that's what makes Tilex work, but now I'm going to try the Oxyclean that sounds like a better way to do it.

My roof gets all black with mold too. I've been using Tilex and or 50/50 bleach for a few years now and you can watch the black spots just disappear. I do wet the roof with water first, then spray the bleach, the wash 2 times and rinse lots.
Try to keep the sides of the camper wet, I've noticed the oxidation will run onto the decals and stain them.

I use '30 second cleaner' from Bimart or Home Depot. That stuff works miracles on the roof. It will make your roof look like new again. I am just amazed on how well this worked on my roof.

at the Fall Rally the manufacturer of the roof material put on a seminar, they told us to use the Tylex but be very careful and not let it get on the side walls. They suggested doing a small section of the roof and spray using lots of water to dilute the run off and make sure the walls get fully rinsed at the same time.
I guess my question is, why you are not wanting to use a product recommended by the manufacturer? Seems to me this would be the best and safest way to go.

ps: they also told us not to use anything that was citrus based on the roof. I guess birds and squirrels just love the taste of the rubber roof after it is cleaned with citrus cleaners.

Watched this happening this summer. Man washed the roof with something he got at Dollar General that was Lemon Scented. Several different birds started pecking on it while he screamed and yelled at them. I think the smell told them it was something to eat, I doubt the roof tasted all that good.
