Level Up Question
We have this system on the new Monty and since it sets in our driveway, and we live in Michigan, I'm wondering what effect salt might have on the legs. Should I wrap them to keep them from rusting?

I asked that question when ours was installed at the Rally and was told that the aluminum legs won't rust and it shouldn't be a problem. It was suggested that we apply some dry silicone spray from time to time to keep them traveling easily.

Actually, thats not quite true, aluminum does rust, but it rust white not brown or red. This rust is oxide rust, which is a good thing in one way, if scared the scare will self seal quickly, however on the flip side this oxide can roughen the surface and damage seals that the aluminum passes through. Protection is a good Idea. Think about aluminum wheels, the old days, you polished them to keep the shine, because they dulled due to oxide build up, now days they are clear coated to prevent oxide build up.

Thanks guys. I think I'll put a good coat of paste wax on them. I'm afraid silicone would run off and not protect as well. Grayghost is right, aluminum does oxidize, especially with road salt. I had to replace the remote oil filter on an older S-10 that had literally rotted away. If the legs are clear coated like aluminum wheels are, they should be OK, but I don't want to take any chances.

As an alternative, there is a product called T-9. I started using it last year while traveling along the gulf coast. It performed well against stopping the corrosion that had already began on my exposed metal parts. http://boeshield.com/ I purchased it at Camping World in Florida, so I'm not sure if all stores carry it.
I used it recently on my level-up legs as I left our Monty in temporary storage in Redding, Ca for several months. After applied, it leaves a fine waxy coating. When not storing or sitting for any length of time, I use silicone spray as advised.
