Beautiful colors, close to peak. The Smokies at their best.

Is the Ghost Town in the Sky still there with that awful, scary pirate ship ride that swings out over the edge of the cliff? That thing scared me so bad twenty years ago that the closest I've been able to get to Maggie Valley since then is Asheville...

Not familiar with that ride, Pat. We will be riding the train the train from Bryson City on Sunday. It is a 4 hr trip with a prime rib dinner. Hope it will be as good as advertised. Larry

Ask me sometime about the time I landed my little Ercoupe at the Bryson City airport which has a cemetery at each end of the runway.
This is still one of our favorite areas in the USA. Most recently we have stayed at the Creekwood Park (next to Pride.) We also like the Holly Cove Campground back toward Cherokee. We always try to eat at least once at the Jarrad House in Dillsboro--family style.

I don't think anyone can go wrong anywhere down there in eastern TN or western NC. It is a beautiful area anytime of year!
