Camping in western Mass
Recently had business in West Springfield, MA. I found the Prospect Mountain Campground in the Trailer Life directory. It was about 20 miles west. Looked at the write-up and decided I'd go there for a couple days.
The drive up from the east to the site has a 7% grade for about 2 miles. From the west, the grade is 12%.
I'm hauling a 3280RL with my F-250 long-bed.
The sites looked good on paper, but the twists and turns around the "beautifully treed" site to get into my "pull-thru" was touch and go. I had to turn at least 120 degrees to the right and slightly downhill, then had to drive far left in the slot, almost to a drop-off, just to clear the right side of the unit. Finally got it into the slot. I put two 2x10s under the left side and just barely got it level. Once in place, I had easily accessed hookups. The water pressure was such that we couldn't even take a shower one night. (Maybe everybody was showering at the same time?).
The price was $37.00 per night, but I did get an AARP discount.
Would I go back there...I DON'T THINK SO.
