Just a thought to you that put in a few gallons of water when stored for extended periods, what about up here in the north where it gets coooooooooooold in the winter? Surly you will have a freeze up problem. I guess you could pour some rv antifreeze in there instead of water.

When we winterize we do put pink stuff in all the drains and into the black tank. Remember the Black tank additive will breakdown anything there and any decomposing causes heat release.

A friend told me that every time he moves he puts half a bottle of bleach in the black tank and then 1/4 in each of the two grey tanks. ($1 from Dollar Tree)
We don't go that far but if ever we smell anything we dump some bleach in with the tank half to 3/4 full and by the time we get to the next campground smell has gone. We back-flush the grey into the black also most times we dump which helps keep the tank clean and then at the end of the season we will run the last couple of hundred miles with Extreme Clean in all tanks before final flush for the winter.

I agree with Rames that the washer connection is most likely the culprit since it is a relatively new rig. If you do not have a washer hooked up, flush those lines and I believe it will resolve the issue. This has been documented many times on the forum, and particularly on the 3400 models with the washer closet adjacent to the throne room!!

Ditto Bingo and Rames' opinion that the cause is the washer/dryer prep lines. In the smaller Montana models where the washer/dryer is located up front in the bedroom, the smell problem occurs from the sink in the bedroom/bath area.

Would this cause an odor problem even if you don't have a washer/dryer in your unit? We have the prep but have never had a washer/dryer installed. We do have an odor from the bathroom sink which is in the bedroom along with the washer/dryer prep.

Absolutely, if you have a washer the water's not standing in there. The problem occurs because the water gets in there with no flow and stagnates. If you have the washer dryer prep, just put a small hose on it and open both hot and cold, one at a time. We have found this in both our 3400 and our 365 Big Sky. We traced it for months until I finally asked on the forum. If I recall correctly, we drained at the beginning of the season, but had to do it again this week. It seemed worst when showering and seemed like the gray tank. Drained the washer outlets and stink gone.

Yep - once again MOC to the rescue! We drained the washer prep lines and phewwww - definitely the problem! We drained pink anti-freeze that was probably there for 2 years. I also scrubbed the bathroom with vinegar and water just to be sure all droplets are gone! We probably haven't been using enough water when we flush either. Thanks again for all your help. This forum is invaluable!
