I drive at 55 to 62 MPH when towing and the truck pulls well at these speed. It is not hard to gget it going but it takes longer to stop.

Just reading these G614 posts again...I was looking for information on where these tires are manufactured...anyone know? While looking on other sites (Good Year was no help), I saw an interesting post: Guy was complaining about a blown G614! Turns out he had G614s on the rear axle and Marathons on the front...and there was a problem, imagine that! Anyway, just curious where the G614s are made.

My 614's are stamped with "Made in U.S.A" on the sidewall. There were a couple of years where they were also stamped "Made in China". The failure rate with that stamping on the side is believed to be substantially higher.

I agree with Slickwillie... 65mph for trailer tires is typical. This allows 10 mph faster than the usual 55mph speed limits in most states for passing.
I drive about 61-62 mph since it tends to give me the best RPMs, performance and mpgs (around 12). Even though that's faster than most speed limits, it isn't dangerous and by now if I got a ticket for driving over 55mph, I've already saved the money from the better fuel economy I have achieved. If I do not drive in my sweet spot, the mpgs can drop by three or four. That's a lot during long trips.
Driving faster or slower is the driver's preference even with speed laws and stamped recommendations. I guess I'm more like Phil and drive a speed that is slower than most but still faster than most speed limits and I'm comfortable with that. If Clemson1881 wants to blow by me on the open road then that's his choice and I hope when he waves going by me that all fingers are raised and not that one single digit.

If you decipher the DOT code on the side of the tire, besides the week of manufacture there are some characters that will tell you the actual manufacturing facility in the USA or anywhere else if not made in the USA. I posted the "decoder ring" for this some time ago but I couldn't find it (but I didn't look too hard either). The point is that there is one. I remember at that time the "Made in USA" Goodyear tires were posted by others and that they were made at one location but I forget where (Tennessee?).

My 2 cents worth are 1) made in USA, 2) 75 MPH rated, but in my case, seldom reached! I used to haul the Big Sky at 70 routinely, but one trip I slowed down to help out a buddy with a crippled trailer, and discovered an extra 100 miles per tank at 65! I only do 70 now when I need to get out of someone's way!

Ditto, Made in the Good ole USA on my 614s and they we only several weeks old when put on the past summer. Sure is nice to get into a tight spot and not worry about popping a tire off the rim.

I seem to recall a listing (possibly from rv.net) that stated that the 614's are manufactured in Topeka, KS.

Over 65 is way to fast for the load and safety of your trailer and others on the road.

Pretty much the way I see it...it is "interesting" to see a rig appear in the distance in your rearview mirrors and rapidly overtake you...maybe "interesting" isn't the word????

Remember what Einstein said The faster you go the slower time passes and the longer you live.
My neighbor Mr. Sid Tallifero tole me 50 years ago, Boy any of these new cars will last you a lifetime if you drive them fast enough.
