Funny you should ask
We have an "in room" a/c (amana) that we use in the house. It draws 10.5 amps, and fyi it's also a heater that draws 8 amps. I was thinking about putting it in the monty for "back up" if needed. Not much in the way of mods to do, simply build a bracket to hold the duct hose plate up to one of the windows. My house is a split level about 1600 sf, and we use it on the upper floor...it's 90+ out now, and with the assistance of an extra fan it keeps the whole upper level at 74. Quiet, remote control, paid 250 for it at hh gregg's on sale...and it's 12,000 btu's (heat is like 9600 btu's).
I drain it about once a week, and it only usually has about 2 cups of water in the drain pan.
