ceiling peeling
The ceiling over the vanity lights in our 3400 RL (2005) is peeling, apparently from the heat from the light bulbs. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen and, if so, how did they fix it?

Go to a smaller size light bulb.

Is it the plastic coating that is peeling off,or did someone try painting it before?

We went from clear bulbs to white ones, not as hot.
course, if the ceiling is pealing already, it is a bit late for this suggestion.
Good luck, let us know your fix when you find one, we all want to hear.

Fluorescent bulbs will run cool, that's what we use.

Thanks for the response from all of you. We are aware that the bulbs are too big/hot/clear, etc. Just wondering how to repair the ceiling.

If it is blistering, my suggestion would be to sand it smooth and roll a coat of high gloss enamel paint to the whole area

H.John Kohl showed me how he replaced the wall switch with a dimmer and you can cut the lites down when not needed on bright. Plus it is realy cool looking at night. I also went to the frosted bulbs.

In 07 their was a thread about this very thing. I got a metal plate,1/8" thick and then I painted it with a bronze color stove paint. It gets hot but the ceiling above looks great.

I think we might be on to something. Yesterday we got some wallcovering for problem areas. It is textured white. We are going to try putting square pieces over the peeling area and we did get different bulbs. I would like to see a picture of the metal plate that you used and how did you secure it? We found some self sticking metallic product that we are considering.
