Front landing gear motors
Hello everyone. A friend of mine replaced his motor for the landing gear on sob and put in seperate motors for each side, he say's it is easy to level because they go up and down alone. My question to you guy's, Is this a good idea or is he risking bending his frame? I might try it if it's safe to do so. thanks

It would seem that using two independent motors could put uneven stress on the legs. I use a leg leveler (CW product) to level legs to the ground, then use motor to raise. Several of our members have two motors but I do not know if they operate independently or not. Hopefully they will chime in soon.
BTW: Have been fulltiming for over three years and have not bent anything or blown a fuse yet (knock on wood)......

Thanks, I failed to mention he replaced the leg's also, my concern is the frame twisting from not going up evenly.

My motor went bad a few weeks ago and it was replaced, along with the legs. Both go up and down together. I would not want to take a chance on twisting if I had separate motors.

I was talking to Lippert a while back and they have a package that will allow a person to run two motors but looking at there drawings it looks like the switch is running both at the same time. I would rather have seperate switches for each motor for fine tuning, and a run together switch.

I'd like to have two motors. I have had too many issues with the stock set up. You can get only one leg moving with one motor too. Several times I have had the passenger side leg not move. My wife watches things very closely and we have not twisted the frame.
If the gear on the top of the leg breaks or drops out of alignment, or the drive shaft breaks loose, only the driver side leg moves. Happens that is the side where the electric switch is located so it is hard to notice the other side.
If or when mine breaks again, I will replace with a two motor set up.

Can't dispute MIMF on hydraulic. I know that most Titaniums come with two motors, perhaps because they tend to be front heavy. I have never looked closely enough to see how it is all controlled. It seems unlikely that you would be able to run one motor independently of the other.

If I am not mistaken he paid 475 for the legs and motors, they seem to be much beefier than mine.
