New 2007 #2955
My wife and I are looking at a new 2007 (2955 RL) for a pretty decent price.
I'm looking at the invoice and I don't see electric landing gear on the options list. The unit has the Montana package, do you think the unit comes with electric front jacks?

I think you'll find that all Montanas have electric landing gear. We had an '03 2955RL that we liked real well. The only disadvantage we found was the door was sometimes difficult to position. We only got rid of it to go bigger and stay with 2 slides.

Yeah, we considered the price difference between 07' and an 09'.. From what I can tell from the internet prices, we are probably saving about 8k less than a new 09 would cost us (WAG)even with the 3k rebate.

Great to hear that you liked your 2955..
This will be our third trailer which is slightly larger than our old Carriage was. The Montana has many so many more features with several times the storage so it will be hard for us to mess this up. The main features that I wanted was the King sized bed option, and we that won't have to upgrade to a larger truck.

We have an pre 10th anniversary 2008 2955 and love it. We go to the RV show and still haven't found another 5th wheel we like as much as our 2955.

We had an 04 2955 and loved it but after 3 years of full timing we found it to be a bit small. But it is a great floor plan and the only problems we found was the door being at the rear. My recliner was the closest to the door and if I was reclining any anyone wanted to come in our go out the recliner, and me, was in the way. Also, the TV was across the room which is OK except when the AC was on. We were always adjusting the TV's volume. The hide-a-bed, when open, was also a problem getting in and out.
As I said we had ours for close to 3 years and we very comfortably worked around these things and only traded for the bigger 3485SA for the additional living space.
BTW-ALL Montana's, from the first one built in 1998 to today, have the electric front jacks

That is a fine camper and yes it has electric front landing jacks, they all do. If the 2955 meets your rv'ing needs and is within you finanical abilities it s a good deal.. You can always upgrade in later years. They get better every year.

Yes, our 2955 has electric landing gear. It's just right for us, since we aren't full timers. Also I prefer the 2 slides on one side. Some sites are not large enough to accomodate slides on both sides.
Enjoy,
Jerry

We've all but made the deal.. Thanks for your comments on the 2955.
The deal we are getting is ~4-5K better than what NADA shows for a used trailer so I think we are amost there. I've got one more issue (not really a deal breaker) to sort out, and if that gets done, we'll have a deal.

It's probably too late but there is a like new 06 2955 in the for sale part of this forum for a very good price. He will take less I'm sure. I know it is like new because I sold it to him.

I should have looked around this site sooner..
My wife and I have been looking at trailers since off and on since June and looking at the Montana was sort of an after thought. The last time we looked Montanas was back before we bought our 99' Carriage. The other day a guy showed us his Montana so we took another look.
It just happened the first Montana that we looked at was very nice and met our needs exactly. btw, We did look at some 08s and 09s in various models but the 07' that we bought was just too sweet of a deal to walk away from. It's perfect for the kind of use that we intend to give it.
If the dealer gets the front AC installed on time, we'll be driving it home tomorrow afternoon.
Cheers!

Hello:
My wife and I have a 2007 2955RL and love it -- we are getting ready for our 2nd winter in Florida ..
We spend about 4 months in her in the winter and about 2 1/2 months in the summer.
Except for the recliner / hide-a-bed / door issue mentioned in the previous posts, the 2955 works out just fine for our needs
When we travel with our nieces and nephews (mostly in the summer), if they want to sleep-in, we just move them up to our King Bed and we have full use of the living space --
Good Luck -- you will be veryy happy
