Halftime oven issue
We were using the unit in convection mode and noticed some sparking between the metal tray and the baking pan, we shut the unit down and used the regular oven. I would have expected sparking if we were using the microwave but not just convection. Yes we double checked several times to be sure we weren't in half-time mode. Anyone else observe this behavior?

It sounds like you may have hit combination bake. This is both micro and convection. The racks should be able to stay in the oven when micro is used, just make sure that legs of the top rack are outside the bottom rack. If one leg is inside the bottom rack you will get sparking where they touch. We never saw any between the tray and pan but should be able to be used in either mode. The other option is that there is a problem with the control panel... Dave

We made sure we weren't in halftime mode only convection. I'm leaning towards a control problem.

Mike, Did you try hitting pre-heat then setting cook temp? Pre-heat shouldn't work in micro mode. We are on our second micro/convection because the first one would not go to temp as instructed. It was consistently 250 degrees low, it is a Dometic. New one works fine... Dave

If you are not quick enough with the settings it defaults to microwave mode. I'd bet that's what happened to you. Vicki just told me this is if you take too much time between entering temperature and entering time then it will default to microwave even though you chose 1/2 time. If in doubt, hit reset and do it again.

Thanks for the info, we tried it several times with no pauses and got the same result.
