Would this be useful to the group
I have not seen this when cruising through out site here but it is very possible I have missed it.
Would it be useful to the group if we were to compile by Model number and year those known issues that have occurred to that particular model so others buying a new version can kind of use it as a check list to go through there unit and insure that as much preventative maintenance as possible can be done or they can at least be aware of it should it occur to them. I would recommend that an item must have occurred to at least 3 MOC'ers to be placed on the list?
I would be willing at least at the beginning to create this from submissions from the group. What I would need is, the problem/defect, Year-Make-Model of the trailer and if the fix or part number is known that information also.
Your thoughts?

It certainly couldn't hurt anything...but man that would take forever to put together. I am not saying that there is a lot of things which have gone wrong. It would just take a lot of time to make a template.

I would find it difficult to separate the "age", "mileage", from the Model Type issues. Much of this separation will be subjective unless there is enough input vs. sold units to make it statistically significant.
Really cool project tho...don't know how or who could maintain.

So many models, so many years of manufacture, so many different uses of the rig, so many different levels and types of maintenance etc. would seem to make any list almost impossible to be comparatively useful.
Some generalities existing across all models and may be useful, but I fear that what you seek, in the detail you want, would not be useful to many or most. It would be easy to compare apples to wrenches without meaning to.
That's my thought, but only mine. I certainly think if you find a way to make it work it would be great for many people.
Good luck if you try, and if you do try I will help any way possible.

Well I have a model template already. I just don't know how to post it for others to view.
Also I need someone to give me a known issue for the 3400RL. I just need to know the description of the issue and the year 3400RL is occurred on.
I can then post it so you can see if something like this would be beneficial.

Here's one for you.
we just bought the "New" 3400RL. After returning from our first trip, we put the slides out and did the usual cleaning. DW was putting the slides in and noticed that the spice rack door was open. We did not open it. She stopped the slide just before the frame would have jammed against the spice rack door. I can just imagine what would have resulted.
Had to put it in the shop for other items needing adjustment and the technician found that the door latch was not adjusted properly. When they put the molding around the frame of the spice rack, then then put the catch on the inside, but because of the rubber molding it did not fit snuggly agains the door catch. Remedy was to trim the molding and reposition the catch.
Second time out - no problems.
On the Pocket Door going to the bedroom. DW forgot to latch the the strap. Door popped off the hanger. The technician adivised buying another strap and putting it on the bottom because the top strap is put on loose from the factory. put the bottom one on tight and let the top be a back-up.

p.s., if you have a web site of your own, put the information on that site in the form that you have and put a link in this forum. It keeps from eating up space here and give you better management/control of the information. Web space is pretty cheap - to free, but if you don't have one I'm sure someone here will volunteer some space for you.

Make you a deal. As I can see this as a never ending series of updates requiring a lot of time and effort I, as Webmaster, would want nothing to do with it. Here's my deal to you, if you get yourself a free web site such as Geo Cities and build a web page and keep it up to date. Than send me the URL to that page and I will place a link to that site on the RV Related links page.
I only picked Geo Cities as that was the first one to come to mind. There are many others out there.
If you have any problems with setting up a free page just let me know and I will try to help you.
ON EDIT... I'll make this even easier for you. Here's a GeoCities site that I used prior to becoming Webmaster of montanaowners.com.
http://www.geocities.com/montanaowners/
If you want access let me know and I will send you the password.
Please Note that I will only furnish this password to RMccord as it was his idea to under take this job.

Waynem
One of the first things Al did when we got our unit was to take that platic strip off that holds the sliding door, cut it down and reinstall, it now fits snug and has NEVER come lose or allowed the door to move.
Sorry, off topic here, but that is a fix that worked quite well for us.

RMccord,
What a great idea, and I would like to thank you up front is you take on this task. I know when we bought our 3400RL there were several common problems to that model. There has also been several problems that have occurred on our model as well as others in the year of 2006. If you take on this project I would love to give you the information from our experiences with our new purchase in 2006.

Great idea!! If everyone sent you an e-mail with the year, make and model, then a list of problems they have had, then you could see what is common. I myself would think that it wouldn`t matter what year ,make or model, you would probably see a pattern develop of common problems.(I.M.O.) Tires, shackles,Alignment, tire balancing, flex frame, slides etc..... Good Luck, I can see this being a great undertaking!! Its just not Keystone that has these problems either. All RV manufacturing seems to have related problems. Maybe its the suppliers sending inferior products to be assembled. I`ve seen this in the automotive industry for years as they pressure the suppliers to lower their prices constantly. As I`ve always said you pay for the cheapest you get the cheapest.

That is a fantastic idea!
The management of it could be a full time data entry job.
Have you considered creating a database that could have sortable criteria? One of the problems I see is the ability for everyone out here to be able to use the system. MS Access can create forms, and there could be a form created that individuals could fill out and submit....but wow! what a lot of work..sorry, we're retired.
Best of luck on this venture, seems to be a very worthwhile idea!

You can add this to your list if you decide to start the project.
