Dicks Sporting Goods/ Garmin
Not real sure of their locations other than Dayton Ohio area. Dick's advertise a Garmin Street Pilot C330 for $349, 50% off normal price. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of Garmin? Thinking seriously of purchasing GPS for the laptop, but may change my mind for this price! Check them out at DicksSportingGoods.com and the item # is 1969470.

We use the Garmin StreetPilot C340 in our work. Very reliable and easy to use. They both talk to you, but the C340 gives you the name of the street to turn on rather than turn right or left at next street. You can't go wrong with either.
We've had trouble with the windshield suction cups if they're left on for extended periods of time. The rubber won't let go of the glass and it tears the cup. Garmin replaced them at no charge.
One more thing, when parked, and away for a time, take the unit off the holder and store it out of sight. There is a hot item for thieves.

I don't know a lot about GPS units only what I've read on this forum and a few friends who have them but it seems like the Garmin 2720 is a popular unit and Costco online has them at $349. $200 off. Is that a good price for that unit and how does it compare to the C330? The only experiance I've had is with the De Lorme unit that uses the lap top and it is not acurate all the time.

We are very happy with the Garmin 2720. I had the C340 for a day or so and it's a very nice unit. Worked well. But I wanted to be able to plot a route going on the roads I want to go on rather than having it take me the fastest or shortest or whatever route. With the C3xx series you can put in just one via. You also cannot store multiple routes with multiple vias and I wanted to have several routes preplanned and ready to go. However, if you have no interest in those features then the C3xx series would be a good choice, in my estimation. I got the C340 at Best Buy for $499. I got the 2720 online at pcconnections.com for the same price and free shipping, no tax. Garmin lists the 2720 at $962. $349 for the C330 is probably a pretty good price. Garmin has been exceptionally responsive to me when I had questions and when I commented the 12v adapter fit is a bit loose they immediately shipped me a new adapter (it fits well). There are other good brands but I have nothing but good to say about Garmin so far.

Thanks Steve, that clears a lot of confusion about these GPS units. It's the Garmin 2720 for us from Costco.com for $349. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use it.

We can relate to your statement, Dennis. We're still working on the ins and outs of the Garmin 60CSX. Wish my ten year old grandson was with us.....he'd have it licked in no time!

Dennis, the best way is to play with it, then go try it out. Have fun.
