Model 3000RK
Hi Everyone,
We are seriously considering the model 3000. We have the 3280 with the peninsula.
I really like the rear kitchen. I was wondering if those of you that have this model have any complains about it. I know it doesn't have the pantry and I will miss that.
The 3280 because of the peninsula has the jack knife couch. Not to comfortable for company.
Let me know what you think. Thanks again.

No complaints from me. Picked mine up in October and spent 5 weeks in it before winterizing. Considered the 3400 but the girlfriend didn't like the counter coming out into the middle. I was on the fence and still no regrets. I don't need the pantry. Plenty of storage cabinets and I try not to carry but so much food because I never know from one day to the next what I want to eat. I hunt alot and carry alot of equipment with me and still haven't filled up all the cabinets. Very pleased with mine. I realized each model had things I liked and I wasn't going to find one that was perfect in my eyes as far as features so bought the one best suited for me. Like the setup in that dining is kinda grouped together, living etc.

We have a 3585SA but I believe a very similar rear kitchen. We like all the cabinet space it gives us and the counter has so much more room. The built in garbage can is a nice touch too.
I would say go for what you feel you like the best and you will be happy.

We looked at and liked the RK, but since we would be spending more time in the living area than the kitchen, and wanted all that great visability where we would spend most of the time, thus opted for the RL.

We have lived in our 3000RK for almost six months and really like it. The DW likes the rear kitchen, and the fireplace has been great on cold nights, we were amazed that the electric heater in the fireplace keeps the RV at about 82 when it is 30 degrees outside. If you get a 3000RK have the dealer put a hinge lock on the drawer below the refrig. to keep it from opening into the slideout while on the road. Our dealer put the same lock on the drawer that holds up the trashcan shelf. Looks good and works great. Now having said that, we will go for a 3400 for our next Montana in about 3 or 4 years. We like features on both the 3000RK and the 3400. We are retired and are on the road for about 9 months out of the year and the 3000RK works great for us. We are currently camped next to a couple with a 1992 22 ft. travel trailer, who are full timers and they wouldn't want anything else. So check out all of your options, and plan on how you are going to use your rv for at least the next few years, whether weekends or several months, fulltime, or whatever, and then go for the one that will suit your lifestyle. Rving is the greatest thing in the world, at least for us, because of all of the great people you meet. Best of luck to you.

Thanks eveyone for your posts on the 3000RK. I was wondering if we would like the built in paper basket. That really is different.
Thanks rrheik for your input on the lock for the drawer. We will certainly have that done.
We kind of went back and forth between the 3000 and 3400, but decided against the 3400 because of the kitchen set up.

We have the 3000RK and really like the trash can setup. I put a collapseable garbage (leaf bag) in the compartment and we can go a week without having to take out the trash.

Spinky: We also have the 3000RK that we really like. Our first Monty was an '03 2955RL. The biggest complaint on the 2955 was the rear entrance. Couldn't always get it positioned right. The two biggest attractions on the 3000RK was the rear kitchen and the two slides. We have been in numerous places that I had to shoehorn it in and if we'd had three slides, we'd have not gotten in. The only problem we've had was the sewer hose compartment. Keystone used(es) self tapping metal screws and they ate holes in our hose. I talked to Tony at the '06 rally in Goshen and the problem was fixed post haste. I am sure you'll really like it.

We have a 3000RK and love it. We don't full time, but I think we would have chosen this unit even if we did. The rear kitchen and the length were the big sellers for us. As rrheik said though, make sure you or the dealer installs some sort of latch on the drawer under the fridge.

I have the travel trailer equal to the 3000RK. I like the unit so much I am upgrading to the 3000RK after just 8 months of ownership. When I compaired all the floor plans I decided this is the best plan available. It is an open floor plan and storage is never a problem.

We also have a 3000rk and we love it. We lived full time in the unit for 6 months while our home search was underway and never once did it let us down.
Everyone seems to have the same experience with the drawer under the fridge coming open at just the wrong moment I had to rebuild the drawer the 3rd time we were out. Now I am hearing of other folks with the same issue I am wondering if it is a design flaw? It is difficult to seeif the drawer is open when the living room slide is in.

Does anyone have a picture of what they did to fix the drawer under the fridge?

Dave, here are a couple of pics of my fix. I don't really like the plastic catch, but was in a hurry and didn't want to run all over town looking. I got these at Wally World, 5 to a pack for around 3 bucks.

Well we ordered the 3000RK on Tuesday. Told the dealer about the drawer under the refrigerator coming open so easy when traveling. So we went out in their model and looked at it. Sure enough it was pretty loose. He said they would take care of it. We will be sure to check that out before we bring it home.
Even though we already have a Montana I am still so excited to get the 3000. Thanks for all your help.

I am still in the "looking" stage for our new home for our fulltiming adventure set to begin by June '07. I have a question on the 3000RK. Does the washer/dryer cabinet allow for a stacked pair or is it designed for a combination W/D unit? I know the 3400RL will fit a stacked pair, but I'm not sure of the other models. Thanks.

Team Daybreak,
The W/D closet in the 3000RK is only about 4 feet high, so I would say the stacked units won't fit.

We picked up our 3000RK on March 7th and spent 4 days in it traveling back to Virginia from Michigan. I was on buisness travel when my wife found the unit and the price was right so we left soon after I got back off the road. Didn't have any time to read much on the forum before we got it (still working on catching up now!) but really wish I had seen this topic before we picked up our unit. Our drawer is sitting in my living room waiting to be repaired. Part of the repair will be the clip. I also have to pick up a lifter for the DVD door as the new glass in the 07's blocks the infrared signal from the remote so you have to walk over, lift the door with one hand and work the remote with the other. Man, talk about roughing it!

Here is the best shot I currently have of the door. I will try and get a better one soon.
