Dumping MS Streets and Trips for Copilot
Guys,
Found out that ALK's Copilot Live Laptop rev 10 has bridge clearance data already nested in the software incorporating it in into a RV routing algorithm. It has campground and Wal-Mart features also in the program and best of all, I can get a copy from the vendor by trading in my Streets and Trips version for only $79!!
Seems like a win-win for me, anyone already done this - what flaws in Copilot are there?

Does Copilot allow use of my GPS locator?

The only thing I can say about the co-pilot that I had any problems with is that you must have your lap top with you otherwise it is a great navigator.

We have been using Copilot for a number of years now and it has served us well. We wouldn't trade it for any other program at this point. Please note that the bridge clearance data is only on major highways and does not include bridges on back roads or lesser highways.

I don't know anything about Copilot but wanted to mention you can download points of interest files, including low clearance areas, from this url:
http://www.discoveryowners.com/cginfolinks.htm
They also have them for Street Atlas and Streets and Trips. I've used them on both of these.

I have only seen one example of Co-pilot, and that is the one in a friend's Alpha MH. I was trying to show him how to use it, and I did not find it very user friendly. Maybe it is just that have used S&T long enough that I am used to how it works, but I would not jump into co-pilot without doing some close research. As Steve says, you can download bridge and other info for S&T that is a lot more complete than what Co-pilot seems to be offering. Check out Steve's link before you jump.

I think I'm gonna get a Copilot copy. $79.00 is a cheap price and run both Streets and Copilot for a while and see how they stack up.

Steve that is big of you to be the test bed. I only have experience with the 07 version of Streets and Trips so I can't expound on the Co-Pilot. Since you will be able to run both side by side, give us a blow by blow detail. But don't make it to inticing as I am just now getting comfortable the S&T.
