This is a follow up to my post of Dec. 18. We took our Apollo 1/2 time oven to the repair shop and it was ready in two weeks. It is installed but I have yet to use it in the 1/2 time mode. Total cost for repair and parts was $346. All of this was covered by our extended warranty. The problem was as stated after Lynne, at Apollo walked me through a test. It was the heater box. Any how, I am going to try a pie and will let you know it is fixed.

Had another nice chat with Lynn the nice lady at Apollo. Our last fix lasted 2 1/2 days then failed again. A new one is in the mail.Everything works execpt the micro wave portion and,,sometimes it works..sometimes it does not.. you never know. They are having "quality" issues with the Chinese company that makes the oven and they "mid west supply" are doing a "Quality survey in a attempt to improve quality. Mid west is doing all the right things to correct the issue but they have..IMO a inferior product to begin with and by the time the problem is solved, if ever, consumer confidence will be lost..That always happens with poor quality products. They (Mid west) are now bench checking the ovens before they are shipped.IMO, as a old retired Electronics guy, There is a problem with the CKT board that controls the functions.Mid West supply thought so also...There is no end to this story.

The repairman, where we took our Apollo says the problem with these type ovens, in R.V's is, many campgrounds don't have a constant voltage and it isn't always enough to run the 1/2 time or convection part of the oven. He also said, a constant voltage transformer would take care of that problem. Of course, that would be another $300. or so. They are installed on the post at shore power. ( Sort of like paying for a dead horse.) Still have to try a pie, maybe today and then I will let you know the outcome. By the way, he also stated that the new part (heater box) was made better and maybe would give better service.....................................

We have the kill-o watt meter pluged in on the 3400 counter top and we have a constant voltage so that is not the issue. As I mentioned above sometimes the MW works..sometimes it does not..This morning it works and Helen seems to think that after she uses the convection oven the M.W works for a time?????Nice feature..hummm.

Yes, guess they just need to put that in the owner's manual of operation. But then, maybe next time it will be something else that causes it to work or not work, as the case may be.
Ain't it great?

I am now on my third (yes - 3rd) one and it is working fine. Lynn from Midwest was very good to work with. After replacing my first one (both mw and 1/2 worked, just the light inside didn't) I got a new one installed. This one only the mw side worked. Midwest contacted a service rep to come out and take a look, then ordered a large box of parts and proceeded to replace everything he could on it. Got both functions to work but then sounded like a freight train whenever you used it. Talked with Lynn again and she got me a new one sent out. Finally have one that works so far so good.

Rich ours just started making a grinding and clattering sound just today. Mine is an 05, any idea of the time limit to call and complain??? Ours has not been used but about a couple of dozen times...tops. Can they offer a fix without replacement?

native TEx,,Give Lynn at mid west sales a call. The warranty says 1 year manufacturers Warranty and 5 year on the magetron...574-472-4283. Give a call, what can you lose. Our present oven with a build date of Aug 06 has worked for one continues week without failure. The previous one with a build date of Feb 06 worked about 1 week out of 9 months. Yes they will send replacement parts..sent us many none of which solved the problem.

Our Apollo ovens turntable stops operating after about 8 minutes on microwave, convection or half time. Has anyone experience this? Otherwise we have not had any other problems. We have a 2006 model 3000 manf Feb 06. Thanks!

Sorry to hear that Bob. I lost track, are you back home yet? Either way I'd call Blue Crick and or The Choice(if you have Extended Warranty)

Our MW died a week ago last Thursday. We are being sent a new one and should get it tomorrow. Lynn did a good job. Give her a call.

I was in Best Buy today and asked about a 1/2 time oven and the girl looked it up in her computer. GE makes one (model JES1290SK). Don't know if it will fit in the hole where the apollo was but it may be a suitable replacement for those of you looking for one. Retail cost is $252.99 thru Best Buy. I guess it would be available somewhere else also. The dimensions are 13 1/5"H X 22" W X 20 1/4" D. 1000 watts, 1.2 cu ft.
I don't have a book on my Apollo since it is in storage, perhaps someone could check size specs and let me know.
Happy Trails
Phil P.

Apollo demensions are...12.25 H 20.75 W 20.5D from the Apollo web site..We saw that exact GE model at a Home Depot. Close fit. Our Apollo has been repaired twice and replaced once..when the warranty runs out and it breaks again we will replace it under our Extended Warranty with the GE Model.
