Semi-permanent sewer lines
Greetings,
I have set up a 2024 381 TB for a permanent resident. The unit will likely never be moved so I have installed 3 inch white pvc sewer/ drain (DWV) piping into the septic. The only issue is the connection of this pipe to the trailer sewer outlets. I have "hijacked" some couplings from the dealer (cheap) sewer lines and have attempted to "make them fit" the 3" DWV pipe, but - as you can imagine - they are a little leaky. Has anyone had similar experience with this who could share what they did to connect a more permanent sewer drain line?
Thanks,
Max

You might be better off installing a short hose between the trailer and the hard sewer line to allow for the slight movement the trailer will experience from wind and other movement. This will also make it easier to get a tight seal at the sewer outlet fitting.

There is a slight difference in diameter between 3” pvc and 3” pvc sewer pipe. A plumbing supply or possibly Amazon will have a thin sleeve that that fills the gap when mating the two different diameter pvc pipes. The sewer pvc has a slightly larger inside diameter because it has a thinner wall thickness. This may be the reason your fittings are leaking.

Thank you - I will check into that.

Good idea. I just picked up a 3" rubber coupling from lowes with clamp fittings on either end (about 10" long). I will see how this works.
Thanks

Search Amazon for rv sewer adapter to 3 inch pvc. Many options that will not leak.

Lowes sells a rubber coupling 3 inch has a clamp on each end. That is what I used. Works great no leaks at all. One end clamps to tank outlet other end clamps to the 3 inch pvc

I saw those. I couldnt figure out how they would work - looked like I would use only half of it? ( to connect to sewer outlet). I will re- visit those if my rubber coupling is not satisfactory. Thanks!

It will work. That’s how I did mine. Connected to gate valve with one end and a section of 3 inch pvc to the other end. Added an elbow to the end and placed into the dump tank

Santa Clause, Indiana, .... Camp Roudolph, which is the campground next to Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. They have permanent installed campers one can rent out (like cabins). Here's a photo of how they installed a permanent sewer line. Sorry, I do not have a closer photo of the actual connection.
But, it looks like they simply cut the end of the pipe on the camper and connected it to the white PVC pipe. You can connect them with a "boot" too:
Connect the 2 with something like this:

I would use a flexible coupler.

The black abs pipe used in RVs should be the same size as PVC pipe you would use in your house. They should interchange and glue together with a all-purpose glue.
Like stated though I would use a fernco fitting as a flexible connection.
I would think if you buy an RV rigid extension piece that will connect to your trailer you can cut one end off in fernco from that to the white PVC. But you have to use regular PVC not the thin wall white stuff that you would use for like downspouts

Also, unless you are eliminating the holding tank, the owner still needs to use the dump valve or he'll end up with the poo-pyramid.

I like that idea. I assume you used a 4i inch pvc or dwv 4 inch to accomdodate the Rhino hose ?

This is what I used in a similar situation. I cut the threads off and used a 3" Fernco adapter to make a leakproof connection between this fitting and the 3" PVC. Easy to take back apart if the need arrises. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

I have mine set up the same way and used "Furney Couplings" At Lowes or Home Depot ...Plumbng Dept. Black rubber connectors with band straps
I soaked mine in really hot water for about 15 minutes to make more plyable and some Vaseline rubbed inside to slide over the knuckles that connect the traditional sewer hose

I should have tried that. I gave up trying to get the coupling over those knuckles (and after scraping my knuckles trying to do so) I have it "rigged " for now. I appreciate the feedback
