First flat
Had my first flat tire after 17 years. Thought I had the proper tool to lower the spare but can’t seem to find it. What size is the nut on the bar to lower the spare? One inch? Anyone that could send me a pic of the tool I would greatly appreciate. I have roadside assistance through Progressive and they should arrive shortly. Hopefully he will have the needed tool.

Ours took a 3/4 inch socket. We carry a 6-sided set and a battery impact driver.

It really helps if you tell us the Year and Model of your Montana (putting it in your signature ensures it shows up always). Your Profile says you have a 2007 3400RL. I am pretty sure that used a 3/4" socket too.

Here is his RV info (screen shot below)...thanks for including it in your "About Me"!!
Just curious - where in the USA did you have the blow-out? Historically - I have only had them in the middle of Nowhere USA!

3/4" socket.
I have an adapter to fit it to my drill for lowering/raising the tire.
Lubricate the cable and mechanism while you have it down.

If you use a power devise to raise or lower the spare, do it very slowly or you could end up with a jamed cable.

3/4” socket. There is a hand crank, should have come Velcro’d to the pass through wall. If you have the Norco BAL retract-a-spare model spare tire mount that I have, (pic below) DO NOT use an impact driver/gun to raise the tire back into place. The maximum torque on the mechanism is 20-25 ft/lbs. over torquing will pull the cable off though the plastic fitting it is housed in and your tire will come crashing down, or even worse, will be hanging by a shred of plastic and come crashing down when you hit your next pothole.
