‘22 3231CK Legacy Brakes
Hello, just purchased our new 3231CK Legacy. All the literature I’ve read, it should come with disk brakes. Upon taking delivery of the RV in CA, we headed home to TX and the brakes kept ‘catching’ when in electric over hydraulic in the truck. Upon further inspection, I realized our Legacy had drum brakes and not disk. Once I set the brake controller to Electric, brakes worked fine.
Question: any recommendations on recourse with Keystone for putting the wrong braking system on the RV?

Kevin,
There was a period during Covid where disc brake parts were not available. Montana Legacy reverted to drum brakes during this period. Sounds like you may have purchased one of those units.

Well, that stinks! I’m assuming there’s no recourse then with Keystone. I appreciate your insight. Thank you. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

I think it might be worthwhile to at least check the build sheet. That should tell you if there was a screw up (re the disk brakes, not the other ones they make)?

Our unit came without disc brakes also. Our dealer called us before the unit had even arrived at the dealership to give us the bad news. Keystone said they could not source all of the parts. We received a credit on the purchase price...I would have rather had the brakes but oh well...

We had our brakes upgraded to discs several years ago, the best upgrade we’ve done. Performance Trailer Braking was who we went with and they work great. Might be something to consider. https://performancetrailerbraking.com/

Send the axle serial number to Dexter. They will tell you what brakes came with those axles. I have a 22 Montana 3781RL legacy . I think it was a late 22 build. I have the disc brakes. Hopefully you can find out from Dexter about your brakes

The same thing happened to us but the price was reduced by $4,000 to acknowledge we weren't getting disc brakes. Overall the drum brakes have been fine. The only issue I have had was one brake get stuck for a moment flat spotting one tire. Check with your dealer. It only happened on '22s.

I suggest calling Keystone customer service, they have always been great for us and a wealth of information. Go to www.keystonerv.com
