GE air conditioner
We were parked next to a Keystone Passport in a campground last week. I noticed this TT had GE air conditioners; I wasn't aware they even made RV air conditioners.
I've been doing some research, and apparently they entered the market in 2020. I noticed that they seemed to be a bit taller than the Dometic's or Coleman's. This likely means they have larger coils which is where the efficiency is, but might create a max height issue on some fifth wheels. In reading, they have a 3 speed fan. The lower speed you can run the fan without freezing the coils, the better an AC will dehumidify. They have models that have heat pumps available with resistance heat built in, they are advertised to heat down to 25 degrees outdoor temps. They offer an auto changeover thermostat and apparently have incorporated additional rubber bushings to reduce noise. The have sealed the fan to keep dirt & insects from entering.
On paper they look very good; does anyone have any experience with these?

Following...am I being cynical to think that GE out-bid the others to supply Keystone with XXXX number of units for $XXX per unit?

I would like to try one. They can’t be any worse than the ones in them now. I started to say junk but maybe that’s a little too far.

GE sold their entire appliance division to Haier (Chinese company) in 2016 including appliance park in Louisville, KY which is a huge facility. Haier has been making refrigeration equipment since the 1920s, GE probably around same time frame. One would think they have the designers and engineering to pull this off, and definitely have the manufacturing facilities. Apparently they have set up an entire recreation division and an exclusive sales distributor located in Elkhart. I've seen their residential style refrigerators in some newer high end RVs, I'm not sure about microwaves. These RV air conditioners are American made.
GE has made PTAC through the wall package heat pumps very common in motels for a very long time and own a big piece of that market. GE actually made some of the first residential heat pumps many years ago and sold the rights to Trane. I can show you one that's over 40 years old and still working.
Just looking at some online retail pricing, they appear to be priced a little lower than Dometic or Coleman compared same size to same size. I'm not advertising them, but they definitely have my attention should I have to replace.
