Dining room ceiling light not working on 3455SA
I'm having trouble with a dining room ceiling light on a 2011 Keystone Montana 3455SA. Pulled it off and found no power. Checked the 120v breakers. Nothing tripped. I noticed there are two ac wires spliced with the light connections and thought it would help if I new what else was in the circuit. Perhaps the second wire is to or from the dinning room side.
Has anyone played around with the dining room ceiling light and know anything about how it is connected.
Thanks in advancce
John

Not sure about a 2011 model (screen shot below)- but those fixtures are 12 volt fixtures in my unit.

Welcome to the forums. Just to clarify, the light is 120volt not 12volt. Is there a wall switch or is the switch on the fixture? If it's 120volt and fixture switched then you have some wire tracing to do. It could be tied into just about any circuit. Someone else here must be more familiar with this year. Good luck!

Did you check for power at the wire? Or in the lamp socket? Those little push button switches are cheap and prone to fail.

I disconnected the ceiling lamp so just checking the two ac wires that join. Neither one has ac power. I was expecting to find something else not working as that might have been a clue. Looks like it's going to a bit of a challenge to track things down but good news is it's nothing critical. Too bad Keystone doesn't have a detailed wiring diagram for each model. You would think that would be provided given the price of trailers.

Are we certain those fixtures in the dining area are 120 vac lights? Asking because I previously owned a '87 Fleetwood fiver and all the lighting even in that vintage was 12vdc.
If a VOM set to check AC voltage on a DC circuit, dependent upon the make of the VOM one probably would not read any voltage.... Just food for thought

As I recall, 2011 models had one ceiling light that was 120V and another was 12V. The 120V one has to share power to/from the receptacle on the outside wall. The power to the slide comes in from the rear of the slide via a junction box along side the frame that transitions the Romex to flex cable which comes up through the floor of the slide.
I would start at the junction box as it easy to access and the usual source of trouble. Water has a nasty habit of getting into the junction box and corroding the connections.
Optionally, if the wall receptacle is hot, the problem could be between it and the light. That will be harder to correct.

Those are the same fixtures used in my 2012/13 Montana and they were 12vdc not 120vac. There was a wall sconce located on the wall below that center cabinet that was 120vac...but not the overhead fixtures in the slide out. If you turned on the switch located on either fixture and a 12vdc fuse was blown, a red led for that fuse would light up. There are two power runs that come into the rear of that slide. One is for 12vdc and the other run is 120vac. Inside the trailer at the rear of the slide and in the corner of the slide, you will notice a slight bump out covered in carpet. This serves as the access for those two power runs. There will be screws that hold it in place. BUT first, I suggest you set the voltmeter to DC volts and measure the wires you disconnected. One will be ground and the other 12vdc. Properly connect them back to the fixture and check the 12vdc fuses to find the fuse that is blown. Could also be the cheap push button switch on the light of the fixture that you say doesn't work.

The light over my dining table in my 2007 was 120 vac where the others in the same slide were 12 vdc. The voltage should be stamped in the metal base of the light bulb.

Thanks for the tips. Will check out on the weekend. I have the ceiling lamp off and it is a 120v lamp, max 40 watt bulb. There is no power at the wires that go to it. No breakers tripped so could be loose connection somewhere. Suspect I'll need to track down the related junctions and connections.

As Carl said, check that slide junction box. You would be far from the first to find a problem there.
And just to make sure you are aware. A circuit breaker handle will not flip to OFF when it trips. It will move just slightly off of the ON position and not overly obvious at first glance. And must be turned off and back on to reset.

The big round lights on the ceiling of the slide are 120AC as is the wall sconce. The smaller lights under the cabinets are the 12VDC. The Two big lights and the sconce and the wall plug all come in thru the cable under the slide. If they all don't work start at the breaker box.

Well I reset all the 120v breakers and checked the 120v fuses. Still no power at the wires at the dining room ceiling fixture. Called Keystone and they couldn't tell me where the wires go to/from so it's down to manual checking. I did check the wall outlet in middle of dining room slide and it has power but sounds I should look for a junction box near rear of dining room slide? Does anyone with a 3455SA know how to find it and access it as I assume it's from inside as I see nothing on outside.
Thanks in advance
John

You have power into the slide. The problem lies in the wall outlet. Remove the wall outlet. Dollars to doughnuts, it has two power lines connected. One is 120V input from under the slide and the other foes to the light. Ensure both lines have power. If they do, then check continuity on the line to the ceiling fixture to check for a broken wire.

Thanks will check tomorrow. Wall outlet has power but could have a loose connection that goes to the ceiling light?

The why's and how's of how an RV is wired, or plumbed, are simply words/visions, maybe telepathic, received by an individual "craftsman" from an individual "source" (alien?), and he then proceeds to follow those directions to whatever outcome you receive - no owner is ever to see or hear them. Said in jest.
Decided to replace a stairway motion detection lamp today. Saw the 12v was looped...light down by the bottom stair. Cut the wires and the lights in the hallway above the steps went out. Hmmm, power panel right above the little light, switch panel 4' or so above the power panel (light was switched). I understand what they did (would have done differently) but it's hard to understand that "bashed" hole behind the little light for the wiring - splintered wood all over - a 1" bit, maybe 1 1/2 and SO much nicer - but you wouldn't have all the splintered wood OR the ginormous connectors they used. All is well now.
