Electrical issues
Hi all,
We had 4 battle born Lithium Batteries installed last fall. Checked them every few weeks to see how much they had discharged. They seemed to be losing about 2-4 amps per week. Hadn't checked the batteries in a few months and today there is no power to the RV. Battery BVM says they're 100% I've uploaded pics. Ideas of what I should check?thanks in advance,
John

At 6.74 volts your batteries are dead and need to be charged. If your rig was hooked up to shorepower, I'd suspect that red autoreset breaker is causing the problem. I'd replace it with a manual breaker (like the one above it for the hydraulic pump). When I switched to lithium and set my converter to lithium charge profile, the higher charge current going back to the batteries would trip the autoreset breaker a.d stop the charge current from getting to the batteries.
I also suspect your batteries may not be configured properly in your SmartShunt.

Our RV isn't plugged into shore power. Guess I'll have to jump start the batteries and start our generator. Why does the battery show 100%?

Agree with Rip on the above. You don’t want it set to start at 100%. Best of luck.

Not much info about your unit. Solar? There are any number of things that will draw power from your batteries while just sitting (even with the battery switch off). Unless you have a good reliable charging source, the best way to avoid discharge during storage is to disconnect the negative from the battery bank.
My LiFePO4 (lithium) batteries aren't Battleborn, but I'm sure they have online info for setting up your SmartShunt. Once recharged to the voltage specified by Battleborn, set the shunt up with the proper settings for your battery (once properly configured your state of charge percentage will have meaning).
Try this link for setting up your SmartShunt: https://battlebornbatteries.com/conf...etooth-dongle/
However, the shunt does nothing to control the charge/discharge of your battery. When on shorepower your converter will charge your batteries if the battery switch is on (red key can't be removed when on), the converter will send 12 volts power to lights etc... in the coach regardless of the battery switch position. If battery switch off converter will not charge the batteries.

Please look at a Victron manual! I believe your shunt may be wired backwards. The battery minus and system minus should be marked. I noticed something in your photo and couldn't put my finger on it...
I'll find a photo of my install so you can see.
ABOVE IS INCORRECT - SEE MY CORRECTION IN POST 7 BELOW

I mistook you're screenshot for SmartShunt, but noticed you have the Smart BMV, your shunt is wired correctly.

BTW, here is a screenshot of my battery settings in my SmartShunt (your Smart BMV should have similar info specifi to your batteries).

Your shunt's charged voltage setting is low. Victron recommends .2 less than absorption. If that is a Magnum temp sensor it is not needed with LiFePO4 chemistry. Take a look at your battery disconnect current rating. You have 400A of continuous current potential. Verify that your negative is bonded ONLY once.

PNW,
No settings posted by the OP. My settings above in post #8 are the recommended settings from SOK (my battery OEM). I think the OP needs to post a screenshot of his battery settings.

Thanks for the clarity. The SOK's are prismatic as well aren't they?

If you have a residential fridge, that green and red switch on the wall goes to your inverter that runs the fridge and a few other things.
When in storage, if you don't have shore power, turn that off. Also remove the battery negative cable or install a switch on it to completely shut off your batteries to prevent discharge during storage.
Turning off the switch in the convenience center does not turn off all the parasitic drains (propane detector etc.).

Thx. I'm a nurse not an electrician so I appreciate your knowledge on the wiring. Don't have access to shore power when in storage. We do have solar but the storage facility has a roof so only get ambient light from the sides.

Based on what I have read in this forum about storing the unit and batteries (not from personal knowledge or practice - my rig is always plugged in her at the house) - you should disconnect the negative pole from the battery. This will stop all stealthy/small draws that will eventually kill the battery while in storage. Lots of folks install a battery disconnect switch accessory near the battery. This is on my list of things to do one of these days.

What are you using to charge them with, solar, inverter/charger, dc-dc from TV?
Also show us your battery settings like mine in attached picture. I see another post mentioning a breaker. For my 6 Battleborns I installed a new marine grade breaker between the main +ve bus bar and the old factory installed bus bar. I also upgraded per Lippert's instructions the old breakers. I REMOVED the converter, it is neither programmed right nor powerful enough, I have a 3000 watt inverter and 120 Amp charger.

It's my last night of work then off for 3 weeks. I'll take pics of my batteries, our installed power breaker switch, our magnum inverter and the bmv info. Thx for replying. John

I’m using my iPhone which doesn’t give me a big picture, but it seems you have tapped all your positive wires ahead of the battery main disconnect switch. All I see is one large cable from the battery positive terminal, going into the disconnect, but nothing exiting. ????

Electrical update
Now that I'm off work for a month I can figure out what's going on. I plugged our RV into our truck as though we were going to drive to an RV camp spot. (My sister suggested I try that and see if I could start the generator and charge the batteries. That worked. I've attached pics of the battery set up and also the bmv monitor during the charge.
Thoughts on my set up, battery data on bmv?

Do you have a dc-dc charger installed? Just curious.
