so how long...
how long should it take for gas to get through the lines for the stove?
I turned the gas on, valve turned green...
went inside and turned the valves on the stove on
tried several times to light....can hear igniter clicking, but no ignition
I hate leaving the valves open for extended time...
should I be trying to use a flame initially (bad igniter even if I can hear it?)
had hoped water heater would ignite on gas....but it has not done that either. (on off switch was stuck in on...and expect the electric element is burned out...and the manual for the water heater in the RV is not the one for the one I have)
no switches on panel as the RV has the incommand system...
thanks

Byron - looking at your profile, you have a 2017 3820fk. I am not sure what stove you have but someone here will know.
I have learned this from reading the forum …the propane valve needs to be opened slowly to prevent an automatic shut off. My unit has the Furrion stove with spark lighters. I have never timed it but it seemed like it may take 10-15 seconds to light. I always let all three burners run for 30 seconds or so before I try the water heater. My unit has a Suburban IW60 on demand water heater. After I run the stove burners - I open the water and see if I get hot water.
Other folks here will have better advice for your particular unit. I don’t think our 2018 InCommand panel has anything to do with the water heater.

What may have happened is you turned the gas valve on too fast. Thesis bottles have a safety valve in them that cuts the gas off incase there is too much flow. Go outside cut the gas off and shake the bottle around a little bit then see how slow you can cut the gas back on. Then try your stove again.

I always use a propane match. With it I can I initially see the match flame being blown around by the air coming out of the burner. And after a time start to see flickers of gas burner flame followed by a full burner. Never timed it. 30 sec? 45 sec? More?

hot water heater going...
Thanks for the replies so far....
the hot water heater did ignite, checked setting in the incommand and selected "both"; then I heard the clicking...and it was running.
still working on trying to get the stove to light. tried 3 times, but will try again tomorrow. It is an upgraded Furrion 3 burner.
Open to any ideas or suggestions
thanks again

got the stove lit
did not realize the gas valves on the stove were like a pilot gas system....until just a bit ago....
I have to hold down on the stove gas valve(s) and then hit the igniter...then hold the valve down about 5 seconds for the stove to stay lit
I realize my questions are newbie....but I do not have a RV friend close by to run some of this stuff past
Thanks again to all that reply

Bryon, this is almost as good as having a friend nearby. The problem for many is every year sees new vendors for appliances, new arrangements, new floor plans and new features. I did not realize the Furrion burners had a pilot. In al” of ours, only the stove had a pilot. Glad you got it figured out.

You are causing the problem by turning the propane valves off and on. If you don't turn slowly enough the safety system will STOP the flow. Just leave them on except for when changing. Even with inCommand you still have an On/Off switch for the electric part of the WH on the WH itself plus 2 reset buttons. If you have burnt out the electric element turn it off outside until you get it replaced. RV propane tanks are special, they are built to survive a crash. NEVER use a non RV approved tank in the RV.
BTW, I have never turned a propane tank off ever, those advisories and even laws pre-date the safety systems we have now and are redundant.

Good advice. I prefer holding a grille lighter beside one rsnge burner until it lights. That way I avoid concentrated gas around the stove. Once the stove works, everything else generally works.

This is the excess flow valve that operates if you open the valve on the propane cylinder too fast, or if there is a major leak from any cause. It is in the pigtail, not in the valve of the cylinder.

To the moc member who never turns his propane tanks off, I'd like to point out an instance. I always turn my propane bottles off between trips. Granted my RV is a 2016, but we had just finished cleaning up our fiver before putting it in storage. A little while later I realized I had forgotten to turn the propane tank off as well as prop the fridge doors open. When I went back and turned the bottle off, then went inside to prop the fridge doors open ... I smelled a faint whiff of propane. Winding up this story, while cleaning the stove I had brushed one of the burner knobs slightly open. This could have ended up very badly.
