Another wet bolt maintenance issue
While doing routine maintenance on our 2020 330RL, i discovered a wet bolt on the suspension, that would not take any grease. After investigating and a good bit of cussing, I was able to get the "wet bolt" out of the spring shackle.
I discovered that the grease hole was not drilled completely thru into the center of the bolt. It was polished off and looked like should, leading me to believe it was manufactured correctly. I could not get grease thru the bolt while it was on the bench, so I knew I had a problem. There was no way possible for grease to get into the bushing.
After i drilled the hole completely, the "wet bolt" accepted the grease and performed like it should have.
I guess what I am saying is, check your wet bolts good, and save yourself the downtime along a road somewhere. The way they throw these things together, this shouldn't surprise anyone.
If you have someone service your rig for you, ask the question" Did all of the grease fittings take the grease?" If not, maybe some further investigation is needed.
