I fixed ours again (6-30-2020) after my post dated 6-20-2020 above. This time I removed the nylon insert entirely and put a stainless steel 1/4" counter sunk screw down from the top and a lock nut on the bottom. No problems since.

Morryde sent me the replacement parts at a reasonable price but the shipping charge was more than the parts! Now I would like some advise on how to do the replacement. Does anyone have advise? I assume it requires removing the molding ???

What parts did you get? If you're just replacing the roller where most of us have had a problem, then you don't have to remove any molding. All the work is at the top of the door.

I drilled out the roller to 5/16, and got a 5/16-18 round head machine screw. Slid the screw through the roller facing down and locked it into the bracket on top of the door with two lock nuts.

At the same time I had heard somewhere on this forum or another one that MorRyde who make the hardware has and updated version. I had reached out to them via email and heard back from Jennifer there and yes there is in fact a newer version of the roller. She sent one out to me free of charge and it arrived today.

Similar design to my mod except where mine rotates freely in the roller, theirs rotates freely in the bracket. I think both designs are a major improvement to the original and I am confident I will be able to use our pivot door for some time to come.
I will keep my mod in place for now and if it fails I will then install the MorRyde part.
Hats off to MorRyde.

Wondering if you recall the length of the machine screw you used on this mod?
thanks much!

Near as I can tell it is a 5/15-18 X 1 1/2" long.
You could also use a 1/4-20 screw and not have to drill out the threads in the roller block.

Thank you! It's clear that the bolt turning every time the door swings is the pivotal part of the problem! I'm going to try your solution.

Still not sure. Do I remove the door? What is involved in doing that?

Thanks for the info Jim! I have been battling this problem on and off since we bought our Monty. I like the concept of the pivot door, mainly because it works well in the limited space we have for the spare bathroom. But constantly adjusting the door height so it closes properly has been a pain!
I reached out to MorRyde today in hopes that I will receive the upgraded roller assembly, fingers crossed!

Home Depot or Lowe’s both carry the barn door hardware

I have reset this door at least a half dozen times and I'm through with it. For those that have replaced the pivot with regular hinges, what did you have to do to remove the pivot hardware. The track and pulley are not a problem but the upper and lower pivot bars seem to connect behind the door frame. I haven't started to remove it yet, just wondering what others ran into.

My unit has the sliding door outside of rest room in hallway. Got rid of all the factory junk rail system . Purchased a heavy duty one and replaced myself. Haven't had any issues . I put felt velcro tape on bottom guide so the door wouldn't get scratch.

I like my pivot door. Never a problem & close to 40,000 miles on 2017 310RE. I just squirt WD40 on it every now & then.

I took a nyloc nut and ground the outside until it fit into the large hole on top of the truck. It’s friction fit. Sued the same bolt as the original assembly. Installed hat 18 months ago and haven’t had to touch it since.

Thanks for all the info. You don't happen to have the part number for the new hardware they sent you?

See post #4 that is how I fixed mine and it is still as smooth as silk. No further issues at all as of yet.

I have a 2017 Montana 3711FL. I fixed my pivot bathroom door several times. The last time, my son and I gave up on the pivot door idea. Fortunately he does home remodeling, so he was able to remove the old door and we installed an accordion door. Reused the original trim and filled in where the pivot rod was. also, the screws on the bottom of the door were coming loose and damaged the vinyl flooring. It narrowed the entrance a few inches, but is much easier to use.
We did notice that the original pivot door itself was extremely heavy for an interior door. It felt like it weighed about 40+ pounds. Seems kind of heavy for a trailer trying to keep things light.

I just bought the Morryde upgraded roller and installed. So far, so good... It was not very expensive.

Dealt with it for two years. Went and got a three-roller unit for the top. It has now been on for two years and no problem. The problem with the original one is that the bolt is metal, and the roller unit is aluminum, do not mix! With the three-roller unit, the bolt stay's still on rotates on the top of the shaft so the threads are not affected. Love ours!
