DS Slide Issue
We have a 2017 3921FB (2 hydraulic slides, 1 electric), over a period of time I started noticing the door side slide not effectively retracting enough to provide an adequate seal on the exterior. I followed the Lippert recommendations for checking and adjustments, typically the adjustment would be to shorten the stroke of the hydraulic actuator (RAM) by turning the nylon insert nut clockwise towards the bracket on the “rod-end”. But while I was at it I decided to check all of the measurements and make the adjustments necessary. Once everything was checked and adjusted the room sealed properly against the exterior. Problem solved or at least I thought! The other day I was retracting the slides when I heard a noticeable pop and the DS slide stopped partially retracted and would not move in or out! After some quick investigation (fearing the worst) I found the hydraulic actuator had disconnected at the fixed in where it attached to the bracket welded to the frame. Turns out after opening the under belly to gain access the 1 1/8 inch nut that attaches the actuator to the frame bracket had come off and dropped into the belly. Good news was I found the nut and reattached the actuator. No damage and all worked. You can’t see this unless you drop the belly. There was no flat washer or lock washer just the nut which I assume was probably never really tight. Don’t know if frame manufacture or Montana assembly was at fault but happy no damage and no cost, just a little time.
