We also cut our King Platform down to a regular Queen. Went out an bought a Serta...love love love it. super soft. Best nights sleep ever.
A lot more room to walk around the bed AND over all more room in the Master.
*Just something to think about*

Our 2020 MHC 331RL came with a "memory foam" queen mattress. I believe it remembered having been a slab of granite at one time. Lasted one night. Replaced it with a Yankee Mattress (we're down the road from the factory).

Mattress
We have a 2018 305RL Montana and our mattress was replaced after 3 months. Upon taking it back to the dealer we were told that Keystone would replace it once but with the same type of mattress and it would probably only last several months. We have now added a 4 inch topper from Walmart which seems to be working as we no longer wake up with sore backs
Keystone seems content with supplying two inferior mattress rather than one quality mattress

Sleep Number R5 from Camping World. It is the best nights sleep DW and I have ever had. And they are different for a reason, R5 is great.

Purple for the win
I tossed the original mattress that came with the unit and replaced it with a Purple 3! Furniture Row delivered, installed, and hauled away our old one. We love it.

We had the same problem. We actually cut down to a queen and moved the queen mattress from our bed in our house and bought a new one for the house. No regrets! We love our camper and are sleeping much better now.

I replaced ours with a residential king. Only a few inches difference around the sides but the comfort makes it worth the inconvenience of lost clearance.

We put a Denver Mattress residential queen in ours. Then we added 2" of memory foam. It makes a world of difference in how well we sleep. It's a little heavier than the original mattress so be sure to know your weights. Also, be sure to take measurements. Some RV mattresses are not as large as residential ones.

Mattress
We replaced our mattress when we purchased our used Montana.
We found a mattress company in Springfield, Missouri that will make a custom mattress. The mattress has a lifetime warranty.
The name of the company is Springfield Mattress.

Our last two were Mattress Insider, great value and quality, as good as home. Getting ready to do the same on our 2020.

New mattress
My wife and I didn’t care for that thin factory mattress that came in the trailer. Not only was it too thin, but it was much too large for the room. It’s nice to have the king size but it extended too far on the sides. We replaced ours with a regular queen size mattress. I removed the board underneath, cut it down to queen size replace the board and it fits beautifully and the mattress is very comfortable. We now have more space on each side which is more convenient and the mattress is plenty big for the two of us. We are not full timers, so we spend usually a month or two in the rig at any one time.

We augmented our original mattress with a 2" foam topper, which was OK for a few days at a time, but after a week or more was torture. So we sprung for a Mattress Insider "Elation" 6" RV king. It was better, but we would still bottom-out and wake up with sore hips. So I put the 2" foam topper UNDER the mattress, and that has worked out well. The problem with mail-order mattresses is you can't try them out first, and returns are a PIA.

King RV Mattress
Hi There. We full- time in our 2019 Legacy. Made it 6 months on original mattress.
Bought a memory foam king size mattress on Amazon for $200. Put it on the bed, then cut the corners to match bed platform/rounded corners with a serrated hand saw from Home Depot ($8).
Love it!! It does make lifting the bed for storage underneath a bit difficult because mattress is thicker. Try to find one no thicker than 8 - 9 inches.
The comfort of the heavier mattress far outways the extra effort to lift the bed!
Best of luck

Memory Foam :)
After 1 night we went to Costco and bought the same foam mattress we have in our house. I have a bad Back and am 6’5” & sleep great. It’s tall, heavy, and a tad big. But I would rather sleep well than worrying about having to squeeze by the side of the bed. Now longer trips are much more enjoyable

We bought a 2006 2980RL in August and just took a month long trip. As far as i know the mattress is the original. We bought a 2" gel foam pad on Amazon for about $90. We have found it very comfortable and have no issues.
