Microwave replacement
Well our High Pointe convection/microwave gave out and is completely dead. Power to the outlet, but unit is dead. I know quite a few of us have had to replace them. What brand did you use? Any problem with the venting? Are you happy with the one you have now?

What is the difference between a microwave and microwaveconvection oven? We have a highpoint but I think it is just a microwave. If it goes out thinking maybe replace with the convenction??

Neighbor at the CG has the same problem. Called his extended warranty company, finally covers something. Whoops ~~ the $200 deducible OH--- and a $200 shipping charge. CW told him to pick one up and they would install at no charge!

Microwave replacement
Following this thread with interest. Our Highpoint convection microwave works just fine but I know my day will come when I have to replace it. There was another thread about their microwave was a “fire hazard” - and there was a pic showing a scorched wall and the wall bracket for the microwave. I was particularly interested in the wall bracket. I think microwave brackets are not universal - or at least the few that I have installed in our S&Bs over the years I recall having to install the bracket that came with the unit. It’s not difficult to install on wood studs. I am curious how the bracket install goes with the aluminum studs in the RV. Anyway - looking forward to one of you guys to do it and tell the story!

We replaced with a whirlpool two years ago. No issues, venting was adjustable.

A microwave/convection is a dual function unit. Operates in conventional microwave mode. Or in convection oven mode which is basically the same as a regular oven except it has an internal fan to circulate the hot air for faster cooking times and/or cooking at slightly lower temperature (about 25 degrees lower). Convection takes a little experimenting to get times and temps right, but works well. You can cook anything in it you would cook in a regular oven. In the Monte we sometimes use the regular propane oven and the convection oven at the same time if we need to simultaneously cook two different foods at two different temperatures.
We recently installed a double convection wall oven in our house.

Just one more reason I wish they had the HC381TH in the higher trim!! Wouldn't it be fantastic if they went from building these things and forcing you to take what they make to letting you select a floorplan then add the options you wanted?? It really wouldn't take that much in this day and age to setup a system to do that. They wouldn't have to do it on all their units just the upper level rigs.

Yep!! I would have ordered the legacy with paint if in command and electric cord reel could be eliminated.

Our Highpointe died pretty quickly as well. I replaced it with a Whirlpool microwave/convection unit and have been very pleased with the results.
Bonus, because I was in the first year, when I mentioned this to my dealer and provided receipts, Keystone actually refunded me the cost of the replacement. That was super cool as I didn't get stuck with the lousy Highpointe as a replacement.
Installation was pretty simple.
Good luck.

Haven't had ours quit but have replaced fuses on a couple of regular microwaves at home. Could that be the problem?

Check the fuse. It is inside the unit.

We're on our third High Pointe in two years. Current one has been working for over a year now and hoping it hangs in there. I would go with a Whirlpool but warrantee keeps covering it. First one went after 6 months and second was DOA. If this one goes maybe the extended warranty will give me a different brand.

Fixed the microwave/convection
After reading everything on the forum, I fixed my highpoint. It was pretty easy to replaced the burned out 20 amp fuse.
Thank you all for the great ideas
