Winegard Trav'eler Ground
Recently installed Trav'eler on my Montana. While mounting, I made sure that 3 mounting screws went through the metal roof frame. Do I need any additional grounding?

What did the installation manual say about grounding? I don't recall any need for grounding mentioned in the manual.

no reference to grounding. I believe your coax is grounding.

rohrmann...nothing in manual about grounding, that's why I asked the question.
mazboy...either through the coax or if plugged into shore power, chassis ground path through to pedestal.
In either case, I suspect some fried electrical components if dish gets struck by lightening.

If your Dish antenna is struck by lightning no amount of grounding in the world is going to save it. That would include lightning arresting gear.
I did not see any reference to grounding the Winegard in the installation documentation. The hybrid switch may have a ground connection if your installation requires one. (Hopper DVR)

If you are hooked up to shore power in a park or elsewhere, then there is a ground to the power connection. If you are dry camping and are using a generator, there is no grounding. There will be bonding between the various components through the coax and power cable to the dish, but this is not a ground. We've had our Trav'ler since January 2013, and have never had an issue with grounding. We did experience a utility power hick-up several years ago that took out both of our receivers and we had to replace them with Walley's, and that was the push off the fence that made me install a Progressive hardwired EMS, but that's another story.

When I have installed the last two Winegard Trav'ler dishes I don't believe there was any mention of grounding the dish or the mounting plate.

Those things are pricey. Don't know if I'm going to keep or sale RV. We are on our 7th one. So I put the Dish on a Dolly. Stores easy on carryall or in cargo area. Travel light and safe traveling . Love it.
