The High Country models absolutely do have multistage converters.
Mine came with a 4 stage PD9260 converter with remote pendant.
Boost 14.4v
Normal 13.6v
Storage 13.2v
Equalize 14.4
The remote pendant allows for manual over ride for any stage.

jimcol, i gotta say if you got 4+ years out of your batteries you were doing quite well. I wouldn't complain, i wish I could get that amount of time out of my batteries.
I personally like interstate batteries. Here in michigan I go to an interstate store which has been great.

The Progressive Dynamics in ours is a PD4500
Boost 14.4v
Normal 13.6v
Storage 13.2v
Doesn't mention equalize
and under their FAQ page
https://www.progressivedyn.com/servi...ked-questions/
What Type of batteries are recommended? Deep cycle Flooded Lead Acid, AGM , Gel Cell
Battery size should not be less than the converter size in AMPS.
Need to get to PD4600LI for Lithium batteries

The 2018 models did not have the multistage. You are cortected that the news ones do just went to montana's website and it show the 60 amp progressive with charge wizard. the standard montana has the 75 amp proggessive with charge wizard.

I use Costco batteries and get 5-6 years. My current ones are from 2013 and still read 6.35 V (6 V battery) after sitting in storage for 2 months. I believe 6.35 is somewhere around 85-90% charged. I do not boondock, so they are usually kept fully charged.

As long as you maintain your batteries they will last. It is when you let them go dead is when you start having problems.

We have a 2010 Montana. Not sure if I'm in the correct area to ask a question but any help would be welcome. I'm asking this question for my daughter who just bought a Keystone Passport. The battery is weak and needs replacing. I just noticed that the "White Positive" lead from the battery is grounded to the trailer. Inside the trailer everything seems to be working even though the battery is weak. When I plug into house power everything continues to work fine.
My concern is that everything I am reading says the 'Negative battery' lead should be the one grounded to the trailer
What's up. I'm ready to hook up the new battery the same as the existing one...white positive to trailer chassis (ground). As the saying goes...if it ain't broke don't fix it !!!
Thanks for any help
Graham

Color doesn't make any difference. The wire going to the chassis is your ground and needs to be hooked to the negative post on your battery. My 2006 negative wire is white.

Thanks for your reply.... everything I'm reading supports your answer. But why is everything working with the positive wire being the ground...??

Steve,
If all you are running is the reefer and you have over 250 watts of solar with decent sun everyday it could be indefinite.
You really need to do a power budget which includes:
-What you want to run for how long and how much it draws
-Determine how many amp hours you expect to be able to put back in your batteries each day from solar
You will need to make up the difference with a genny. If you are using heavy with the sun down you may need to augment then also.

I defer to others who have experience with both 6 volt batteries and residential refrigerators.

Awesome, thanks. Pulling for the first time May 25. Will have full hookups but thought I would experiment a little. I do have a dual fuel generator for backup

Depends on how many Watts you have for solar and the AH rating of you batteries.
I will be able to better answer after this weekend as I’m headed out Friday for a couple days and I am running 1200 Watts of solar and 400AH with a residential fridge and 3 very young grand daughters going.
