Lippert Presentation
I was just looking at some of the pictures posted by John of the 2017 Fall Rally. There was a picture of a CRC, Power Lube, High Performance Lubricant w/ PTEE. This was recommended by Lippert in the 2017 Fall Rally session they put on for lubing the slides and also the Level-up legs. This last year at the 2018 Fall Rally I had some problems with the front level-up legs squealing. The Lippert reps came over to our unit and had me operate the legs while they stood there. They squealed and then the reps asked me what I used on them to lubricate them. I told them the CRC Power Lube that was recommended at the 2017 Rally. They told me to stop using it because it contained silicone and the silicone dissolves or breaks down the seals in the level-up legs. I asked what to use then. They told me to take an lint free rag and pour some regular hydraulic fluid on it and then rub the legs with that rag. They said it will also lube the gaskets in the leg to keep them from drying out. Thought I'd relay this and let folks know that even Lippert can change their minds when it come to maintenance on their products. Just another helpful hint. Oh, they did say to wipe them down before retracting them and also, if you are sitting for any length of time, every 3-4 weeks so the legs do not collect dirt and dry out or become caked with dust.

This is strange. We also got the same presentation at the 2014 rally with the CRC lube. At that time, their manual stated to use silicone spray when the jacks are extended for long periods of time. Their current manual still says to use silicone spray for the jacks. Lippert should get all their people on the same page, and if this is really a problem with using silicone spray, they should change the manual. Motorcycle fork oil or transmission fluid on a rag wiped on the cylinders to remove dirt and such. Then lightly wipe all of them before retracting LG. Keeps exterior dust seals clean and lubed.

I'll add this: I worked for a large Electronic Firm, making Radios and other electronics for the Military. We found that Silicone reacts badly with some Rubber compounds, so I think maybe Lippert learned that their original suggestion was wrong or are at least trying to eliminate a possible problem.

Thanks Rondo. Are your jacks still quiet? Good info.

I spoke with LCI tech recently. He said CRC spray in the green can. It contains zero petroleum. I went to 3 auto-supply stores and none had it, the last, O'Rileys ordered it for me, had it overnight. So ~~ now what do they REALLY suggest?

Just a thought, if you keep the legs wet with hydraulic fluid, it more readily collects dust while setting at a camp site.
With that thought, I wipe off the legs with a lint free damp (water) rag periodically if I’m at a site for extended periods just to keep clean.
When leaving a camp site, I clean the legs with dry rag, then wipe down the leg with hydraulic fluid just prior to raising legs when leaving a camp site.
