I tied a bright colored plastic string on the handle of my control panel door and left it long enough to hang down into my line of vision while watching for the steps. A ribbon would probably work better. Haven't banged the open panel door since.

We went with water line insulation from Lowe’s. DW said the colored pool noodles clashed with the paint scheme. A little more expensive than noodles but cost is no object (to the DW). 😉

Also, you should get a swimming 'noodle' and split it lengthwise. Fits right over the slide and eliminates the big bang on the head.

Also, pipe insulation is already split.

Also, pipe insulation is already split. Sorry, I too have grown taller than my hair and FULLY understand that form of using your head.

I hear you folks about color clash. For me, let it clash. I want to see that screaming orange noodle before I walk into a slide corner or king pin. One trip to the ER and a half dozen butterfly closures instead of stitches was enough.

And if pool noodles aren't readily available, you can use foam pipe insulation tubes. They are already split. All you need to do is measure and make a few cuts for length.

I put pool noodles on the edges. Just cut to size and slide on the edges when you set up and take them off when you are going to leave. I have wacked my head too.

With more experience, you'll be looking around after you hit your head to see if anyone saw you do it.. :-)
