Disc Brake Compatibility with Ford Controller

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. We have a 2016 F-450 we will be using to tow our soon to be 2020 Montana with disc brakes. I have been getting conflicting information as to whether the 2016 Ford factory controller will work with the Dexter EOH brakes on the Montana. Don't know if I need to have an aftermarket controller installed or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

My 2016 F-350 has a setting for electric over hydraulic brakes in settings section of the productivity screen , along with sensitivity settings.

Even my 2014 F350 has the EOH setting, so I would think you are fine with the stock controller.

No need to change out the controller. Brake controllers are all the same. They just send electricity to the brakes. However the one in the truck is smart. It only sends the same amount of force that you are using on the brake peddle. The harder you push the brakes the more electricity is sent to the brakes. Makes for smoother braking.

I asked my local Ford dealership. They said my stock controller can be set to accept the electric over hydraulic disc brake set up.

There have been reported incompatibilities with disc brake controllers and the standard truck brake controller. GM was one brand affected, but Ford and Dodge have also been mentioned. I have a friend with a fairly new Ford who had discs installed in Goshen and they wound up installing a Prodigy to make them work. To me that was totally unacceptable. There is an "adapter kit" that seems to solve the incompatibility problem.

Do a Search on " disc brake controller" and you should uncover a number of Threads on this controller topic. Here is a list to get you started.
