Hydraulic tank
I have a 3402 montana. I went to add a bit of fluid and realized that it wasnt ATF fluid. I sucked out a sample and it was Hydraulic fluid and you cant mix the two.
Lippert wouldnt recomend a type other then pour rate for tempature.
Has anyone used hydraulic fluid vs atf and if so what did u use . Also has anyone done a complete fluid change and if so how did u flush. Easy to suck out tank not sure about lines??

Cat hydraulic fluid is acceptable mix. It is what is added to get the system to quit popping. Google up Lippert service bulletin and it will explain how to change fluid which is recommended every 5 years.

No where have I ever read in any Lippert document that says ATF and conventional hydraulic fluid can not be mixed. ATF is hydraulic fluid, just has some other additives for use in a transmission. I drained the fluid a number of years ago and filled with ATF and CAT stiction fluid, and the system still works just fine. I would not worry about mixing, just make sure you use good fluids as recommended by Lippert and your system will be fine.

You said you drained the fluid. Was that just the tank or were u able to clean out the lines?

Download the MyLCI app from Google play store. Lots of good info, TSB, manuals and troubleshooting are available on the app. Everything at your fingertips.

If it’s not RED then it’s AW32... yes both fluids can be mixed. But I don’t like the idea of adding a high detergent fluid into AW32 oil. All of Lipperts documentation states ATF fluid
However.. When you call their Steve support about it, and I have four times..the answer I get is stay with what ever the original fluid was when unit was purchased.
The RV builders will normally use AW32 fluid because it’s cheaper when purchased in bulk quantities.
When it comes to mixing fluid types I’m old school and stay with what was originally in the system.. and I don’t use stiction fluid. .. All you are doing is thinning out the viscosity of the fluid in the reservoir to try and get rid of the popping sound that is and will always be an inherent problem due to surface friction of the internal oil seals against the hydraulic piston
Aircraft landing gear struts have been around for over a 100 years.. the design is the same as the hydraulic landing gear on the fifth wheel. The struts react to temp changes during the day and nite
YMMV
