Winterizing Washer
Is it advisable to put the anti-freeze right in the washer and use spin cycle to get it into the drain? He does not want to use the pump.

you have water lines leading up to the washer. They will need protecting also

We have had our washer dryer combo for 8 years. I have always run antifreeze through the hot and cold water lines and I also add approx 1/2 gallon to the tub itself. I than run the washer on the spin cycle while switching from hot and cold water settings and finally I run it on the drain cycle. This process ensures that there is antifreeze in everything that could have water in it. 8 years and still working great.

i set the washer on warm water and basically started a load of laundry
let it pull antifreeze from the bucket. set it to drain, then to spin and then drain some more

As above, I always run antifreeze thru the hot and cold water lines using the pump. Those water lines are long on my trailer and a lot of pipe that can freeze.

Ditto, I've done the same for years

Been adding RV type anti-freeze to our washer in Wyoming for winters when we leave for 5+ years. Let it run thru drain cycle to get in pump.... no problems

The instructions for our Spendide has us put the washer on hot, then run it until we see pink water in the tub. Change it to drain and spin, then put in on cold, do the same. Finally, medium, let the tub fill up and start to 'wash', then move to spin/drain. Finished. Sounds like a lot but goes very quickly and I used less than 2 gallons of antifreeze for the thing.
For those who don't have washers don't forget those lines though. They have water in them and can freeze (I believe the phrase here is "ask me how I know!"

Ditto... I make sure that the valve in the washer gets antifreeze on both sides. Splendide sent me instructions on the correct way to winterize mine when I was having other issues with it and I asked them that question since I had the tech on the phone.
Letting the drain pump run it out of the tub also insures there is anti freeze in that trap in the RV.
