Trouble with wax you all recommended
Last fall we waxed our 293RK with a wax that was on all the threads in the forum. It came in an orange bottle from Wal-Mart. The side that was south facing oxidized horribly. Shadows of the structure can be seen. Is this ruined or can a rubbing compound take it out? Won’t try until we hear from anyone who has been through this.

We have a 2014 HC. It will oxidize if left out in the sun. Only way we could get it back to original shape was to pay a detailer to come in and "cut and buff" the exterior. This will give it a like new shine. We now keep it covered under a metal building. This has helped a lot. We are now having it buffed about every two or three years. Before cover , it was every year.

Wax is NOT a cure for oxidation. It may help a little for a short period of time. If you wont a more permanent solution take it to a body shop and have it clear coated.

Assume you’re talking about NuFinish, ie orange bottle, which is a polish, not a wax. With a quality wax and a buffer you should be able to improve appearance.

If you buy a orbital buffer don't get a cheap one. It will not do a good job. You have to spend some money on a good buffer and then you can use it on your truck to keep it looking nice.

I know a pro detailer and I've seen 8-year-old Montanas come back nicely using:

Just an FYI from a lifelong Hot Rodder/Show car guy, Hence my handle..
Nu Finish is not a wax, its an el cheapo borderline rubbing compound. Yes it will restore color and shine in the short term, by removing a good bit of the existing finish, but it leaves the paint raw and totally unprotected, leading to rapid oxidation if the paint is exposed to the elements at all.. Its horrible stuff and should not be used. Detailing and paint/finish restoration is really not a good idea if you dont know a whole lot about it. Find a good pro and they can bring yours back..

Slightly Related
Couple I like for Ease of Use and Results
Menzurna / 1. Jescar Powerlock and 2. Same brand Carnuba Wax
They also carry polishes at various levels of aggressiveness depending on condition and type of finish your dealing with.
A decent polishing wheel or orbital buffer with the appropriate pad can be a nice addition. I would caution if your not familiar with a buffing wheel, to use caution and test a discrete area w pads, product, and especially speed of RPMs so it doesn’t get to hot and burn through your finish.
On a clear coat finish I’ve never used an easier product to work with!
If your really particular you can clay bar surfaces prior to waxing and relish in the Micro Beads post wax.
Happy Detailing

I hand wax with turtle wax. I have an orbital buffer I only use on the back of the Monty because I don't want to peel off the decals. 2 day job, twice a year.
