air bag pressure loss
Good morning. Last week I bought Air Lift 5000 airbags for my 2017 Ram 3500. They are leaking air at a rate of about 2# per day. The local installer has soap checked every connection & the valves with no luck. He said that due to the small volume of air in the bag that every time I put an air gauge on the Schrader valve a small amount of air escapes giving me a lower psi reading.
Has anyone had like problems?
Thanks Chandy

The installer is correct. If you feel that you are loosing 2 lbs a day, don't check them for 4 or five days. If you are only down a couple of pounds then that confirms his explanation. If you are down 4 or more then you do indeed have a leak.

Buy an inline air gauge. You can monitor air pressure without losing air

the system i had in a Toyota pickup with on board compressor, it showed air pressure for each air bag independently. which would also allow individual filling

Mine are Firestone. Over a 30 day period at 45PSI, I will lose 10 each side. Since I ran separate lines/valves, and airbags remained balanced, I don't worry about, just top off when towing

I've had Firestone bags on both of my trucks since 2010 and have only ever had one to leak which was because the tubing wasn't cut squarely before inserting into the connection. You may can take out the schrader valve, clean it off and put it back, OR put in a new valve to correct the issue.
