Slide out problems licked? Looks like it...
About two months ago, someone made a post about the slides stopping on the way out as well as in. At that time, Dale responded that it was the breaker tripping that was most likely doing it, also mentioning that on the assembly line the workers would sometimes put a 30 amp breaker instead of a 50.
Well, the symptoms sounded exactly like what ours had been doing, so I went out and looked, and, sure enough, ours was a 30 amp. There were several other small problems that I was going to have fixed at a local repairman who does excellent work and doesn’t ask for your first born in return, so I figured I would print out Dale’s response and take it along and have him fix it with the rest. I will confess here that I am NOT the handiest of people around things electrical.
Well, he followed the directions that Dale provided and installed a 70 amp manual reset breaker. Today, I had the opportunity to test it for the first time as I was dewinterizing the Montana to take it out this weekend. Typically, the motor stopped at least once or twice on the way out and two or three times on the way in. I have not tried running it in yet as we are packing and doing a little cleaning, but it did not stop once as we extended the slides. That was a good feeling!
I will update this weekend after we return, but right now, everything looks promising. I say all of this in my long winded way to just point out once again how wonderful this site is and how fortunate we are to have someone like Dale as part of the community!

It is amazing what a small bit of knowledge can do to a large headache. This forum is reducing/eliminating many migraines.

Great post, JD,
It really shows the value of the forum. Technicians don't always know everything. It really helps to be able to talk intellegently to them.

UPDATE: I went ahead and retracted the slides tonight and the good news continues—they came in without stopping once! It is a happy day in Georgia!
mpl897, you can find the breaker underneath the motor that powers the slides, which is in the front compartment.
