Truck Ride when Empty
Have a 2018 F-350 Dually long bed. Quite a bit of hop and rough ride when not towing. Ran across Sulastic Springs and wonder if anyone has any experience with them or other options for softening the ride when empty.

I run tires in rear at 59 lbs, front at 65 lbs when empty not to bad now.

If running at 80PSI rear, reduce.

I run 70 psi in the rear tires as I'm pulling with the truck 90% of the time. That being said, I have airbags on mine and keep them inflated to 12 psi and it made an incredible difference in unloaded ride quality.

Look at the Youtube channel of big truck big RV for a video on his change to sulastic springs. He has a F450 but was amazed at the ride difference after the swap.

Our TV the 08 F-350 Diesel was ordered heavy duty and we added air bags for a level ride.It does ride rough when not towing.It is not a daily driver as its main purpose is pulling a heavy 5th wheel. We take the Honda with us to our winter residence so the truck gets very little mileage when there. When on the road we do use it for going to points of interest so it does get some solo mileage.

Any truck with DRW's ride like a brick. They are designed to haul very heavy loads. Lowering the tire pressure may help but keep a eye on tire ware. Air bags would help but adding softer springs defeats the reason for a dully right.

I have a 2016 F350 Crew Cab, Dually, Diesel with Off-Road Package, Camper Package, Snow Plow Package, High Capacity Trailer Tow Package 14000lb GVWR Package, 4.30 gears, 35000lb GCWR, 6460lb payload capacity, 26500 + lb tow rating. I wanted a "TRUCK". Changing anything on the suspension to "soften" the ride will change these ratings.
The B pillar states tire pressure 75 front, 65 rear. I bump the rears to 70 when towing.
I think it is unreasonable for any dually owner to expect anything other than a "truck" ride. IMHO

Our 2017 3500 4 wheel drive is a long bed and drives like a car when empty.If you have a shortbed the ride is all together different.Thats the reason we went with the longbed for smoother ride and handle better haulin rv.

We have a 2011 RAM 3500 SRW and when towing have the rears at 80 psi, fronts at 65 psi and the airbags at 27 psi. When not towing I put the tires at 60 psi all the way around and the air bags at 7-8 psi. If I don't do this the ride is extremely harsh.

The tire pressure rating in the door jam refers to full load, both front and rear. Checking tire mfg sight for load ratings when you are not using the truck to tow, will show that you can take the rear tires below 40 psi and set the front around 70 will improve the ride quality.

Maybe I'm not as soft as some folks but honestly I don't notice all that rough a ride in our newer 1 ton dually. Truthfully I expected it to be rough but it rides almost as well as the F150 we had about 8 years ago and better than the F250 we had last. Granted the wife's car is a softer ride but my wife WANTS to trade that in for a pickup! Even she doesn't get the crying over the ride of a 1 ton dually.....

I recognize that a truck rides like a truck, the question was regarding the sulastic springs, which are actually a modified shackle for the springs and does not affect the payload or towing capacity.
I'll check out the suggested video.

That is exactly how our Ram is set up. Dropping to low load pressures certainly improved the ride. It also ate a set of tires. So I tough out the ride and save the tires.

Unless you are on the move all the time, my recommendation is to park your truck when not towing. Get a low cost and good mileage car to drive. It will be cheaper and more comfortable in the long run. Should let you get 15+ years out of your truck.
