Bit for Screw heads
Okay. Stupid question of the day. A #1 square bit is too small for these screws and a #2 is too big. A Phillips will fit in the top and turn screws that aren't too tight, but slip of you need more torque.
What exactly do I need to get to deal with the screws in this thing?

The #2 Robertson (square head) has been what Montana has used since forever. The #2 bit should fit. I don't know if I have ever seen a #1 screw in a Montana.

Thanks. I’ll try to find a decent #2 Robertson.

When I bought a socket set for my 5er it had a set of square bits in there. I got them at HD. Husky brand I believe.

Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a good brand name. I do stay away from DeWalt Robertson and twist drill bits these days but the Bosch, Makita and Vermont American still seem to work well. As far as #1 Robertsons, yes, there are a few such as in the pancake LED light fixture attaching screws and cabinet hinges (at least in on our HC). Haven't found any #3 though (yet!)

Yes, that’s what had me baffled. I had both #1 & #2 square bits, but apparently the Chinese factory had poor tolerances and made the #2 too big. I’ll grab a quality brand one today.

A couple of minutes with a file will make that worthless bit useful again.

Robinson screwdrivers come in yellow (#4) green (#6) red (#8) black (#10). All the screws in your 8unit should be #8, so a red handle #8 Robinson screwdriver should work

Robertson drive sizes are 00, 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The ones commonly used on these rigs is #2.

Montana actually supplied 2 #2 square head drivers, both on flex shafts with my unit. BTW, don't shop at Harbor Freight for this kind of tool.

That must have been a dealer option and gave it to you since he new you would need it in the future the way these trailers are built.

Those flex drivers are for manually closing the BAL bedroom cable slide on most Montanas or all on a HC and used with a cordless drill. I have at least 4 of those flex drivers
