King size bed issues
We have a 2018 Montana 3811ms 5th wheel equiped with a King size bed. The mattress extends over the pedestal about 8-10" makeing the useable portion significantly smaller. The mattress bends down if you are close to the edge. Not only is it uncomfortable but I'm sure it will ruin the mattress over time. Has anyone else noticed this or have this issue. Its like they just threw a King size mattress on a queen size bed.
Thanks in advance for any input..

Mine is like yours but I haven't seen it cause any problem for the mattress. Many have changed the mattress for the queen. If you are not full-timing this might be the best solution as it will fit much better and give you much more room in the B.R. to walk around.

We really like the extra room you get around the sides of the bed with the queen mattress. Still plenty of room for us and our dog.

The one side of the mattress (head side)is up against the wall while the other side overhangs the frame by 11.5 inches (just measured it). I'm not sure if this is how the factory planned it of if the mattress was added by the dealer. We like the extra room so we would like to keep the larger mattress

Sounds like the dealer might have added a king bed to a queen setup.

Just cut a sheet of plywood to almost fit the mattress and change it. Easy enough to do, suggest you 45 the corner to keep from cracking a knee.

Problem solved. I went to Lowe's and picked up 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood which they cut to the dimensions I gave them. Now the bed is awesome with no more mattress sagging.
Thanks for all the info..

I took the original plywood and moved it toward the dressing room, away from the couch several inches to better center it under the king sized bed. It works much better and has the support on the dressing room side of the bed. Pretty easy fix.

Same thing on a 2019 3731, plus they add on $300. Dealer (CRestview) doesn't care and neither does Keystone. Only thing you can do is accept it or pay to get a smaller or customer made queen size mattress. Just more of the RV fraud I(in my opinion) that hopefully some day the dealer/mfg will be held accountable for. If you dont like it and take it back without even using it once, you may get 70 cents on the dollar if you are lucky. If the mattress is the only thing wrong, you are very lucky and better keep that unit.

You are right, the dealers and manufacturers don't care. I fixed mine bed with $80 worth of 3/4"Plywood and a small box of screws. Now it's awesome.
There were many others some of which I fixed myself and some under warranty. My oven doesn't hold temp. Furrion said it needs replacement and have me a case number. Keystone said it must be taken to a dealer for evaluation and possible replacement. Now I'm in San Antonio for the winter and really don't feel like taking it down and bringing it to a dealer. The dealer I found with the best customer service reviews does not handle Keystone warranty. So I have to use my extended warranty which is not fair to them. So I will wait till I return to NY in May to have it fixed. My 1 year warranty expires tomorrow Jan 29.
I guess they are all the same.

Real simple fix that we had to do something about, because we took out the factory king mattress and put in a Sleep Number bed, and it has a 4" wide foam edge that would sag off the end. So I just cut some 1/2" plywood and put a radius on it the same as the mattress, and measured how much I could over hang the bed and not hit the wardrobe slide when all the slides are in. So I overlapped the current plywood by about 8" and the rest hangs out to support the mattress and stays 1" away from the wardrobe slide when all the way in. I think the plywood was 18" x 60"

thanks for the details on your mod. Our 18 year old dachshund sleeps with us in the king size and she is literally on her last legs. Once she's gone we will downsize to a queen for more walking room around it and go with a memory foam mattress. I hadn't thought of the issue with the overhang along with clearance when slides are in. Since I will be trimming the width anyway I think I will just replace the whole piece.

Just got to thinking that I would have to special order a piece of plywood to get the 5 foot width for the queen, so I measured and my base measures from the hinge to the bottom edge at 48inches which explains why we all have an overhang on our mattresses. Looks like I will scab on an extension after all.

We just reduced ours to queen size like we have at the house. Problem solved. Gave us more room anyway.
