Trailer tire rotation
I am having some wear starting on inside of rear axle tires. I understand I need to get the rig aligned, but not in a place to do that for another 1500 miles or so. Has anyone rotated tires on your rig? If so, do you rotate front to back, or side to side? I am thinking if I rotate side to side that will buy me some time to get it aligned.
Any feedback is appreciated.

i'd just keep the tires the way they are so that the alignment shop can see what is going on....
another 1500 miles shouldn't be an issue.

I have never rotated mine. And no tire has ever worn more than any other tire.
For me, rotating in your case would depend on just how bad the wear is. Starting to look bad I would go ahead and rotate. Just starting to show extra wear I would leave it and check every couple hundred miles or less to make sure it is not wearing down to fast. And if so, then rotate. If wearing fast, you may have to rotate more than once to get home.

If you rotate the tires as mounted the inside tread will still be on the inside. To change the orientation of the tire it would have to be remounted which would mean you would rotate side to side to keep the rotation of the tire the same. After rereading that sentence, I hope it makes sense.

You are correct. If you swap sides then you are just changing the direction of the tire. This does nothing to help the situation. If it is just one tire then the spare could be installed till getting back home. Spare tires are just that, spares. Spares don't have to have as good of tread as the rest of the rig.I had one tire out of alignment because of a broken shackle bolt and the tire wore very quickly.

To rotate or not rotate that is the question?!
If you rotate one of your good tires to replace the wearing tire, that tire may will also be worn! Hopefully not too bad where it will be able to be used after you get the alignment fixed. The person mentioned that you should use the spare tire? That was a great response if your spare is in good enough shape to do the job. That way you don't unnecessarily wear one of your good tires. One question, did you hit a big pothole or curb if you can remember? Sometimes that will wack one axle and not the others. I hope you get the tire problem figured out. Let us know when you get it fixed what they find out.

After 2 leaf springs broke on 2 different trips, And the inside of 4 new tires wore away after 8,000 miles I decided to get into it. From the factory, the axles are rated at 6,000 pounds each. The leaf springs were rated at 2,500 pounds each. No wonder the springs broke (also possibly due to age). Also, with the weaker springs, the wheels were bowed out causing the inside wear.
I installed 3,000 pound rated springs (have 1 more leaf than 2,500). Rig sits about 1 inch higher than before, and tires aren't bowed out. Also, both right tires were not properly aligned. Got that fixed.
Just put 3,000 miles on rig, inside of new tires look fine.

You might want to check the distribution of weight on each wheel. Sometime, too much weight in the back of the trailer will cause a tire to wear more.

Had normal wear on our tires until I had a bearing repacked by a mobile service. Later, I noticed excessive wear on the inside tread of that tire. Thinking pothole trauma had the axle alignment checked and found within specs. Next stop, had a mobile service change out the tire and found wheel was not at proper torque. After that no abnormal wear on tires. Would think an improper torque would cause a wavy tread wear, but apparently not so in this case.
