National Parks Pass going up?
Spoke with a local friend today who knows that we are going to start traveling more now that we are retired. She told me that National Parks has a pass (lifetime?) that is currently $10 but going to $80 next month. Anyone know if having this pass is helpful at all to RV'ers? TIA.

I've always said a young family needs that pass not a bunch of middle income retirees. I have no problem with that.

$80 will be a good deal. $10 is a fantastic deal. We use ours at an Oklahoma COE park we often go to with great RV sites with 50 amp FHU and large concrete pads to get 1/2 off nightly rate, $12 instead of $24.

If you go to National Parks and Campgrounds, yup great deal. Gets you in the park free, and Campgrounds are 1\2 price.
We use the heck out of it.

From their web site;
A pass covers entrance, standard amenity fees and day use fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle at per vehicle fee areas (or up to four adults at sites that charge per person).

I disagree about just needing one. If the wife is not in your vehicle (home, sick, visiting, etc.) and you want to tour a National whatever, you have to pay. The pass is only good if she is in the vehicle and presents her drivers license.
The $10 is too cheap to not have a second. Even $80 is worth it.

DW has one and I have two. I purchased a second as a spare so if I lose one I can always go to the second. I have been asked to provide ID when I have used mine so as previously said if you want to go into a park without the person that has the card you must pay full fees.

I'm heading down to get a second one for myself or possibly one in the DW's name. Reason being that we will have one in each vehicle then. If we are going to go into a National Park or any place that accepts them for a discounted night/s stay most of the time we are together so at least one of us MAY have to show our drivers license but that's no big deal to me especially since we're also saving $$$s now to get into any National Park anywhere in the Nation.

Lost mine years ago. The only location we used this past 6 week trip, the gate attendant offered me the $10 pass to avoid the upcoming rate hike. I gladly accepted and got in free, too. I plan not to lose this one and use it at other locations. A great deal!

We have one in my name, and one in the Wife's name, in the last 6 weeks that pass has been used 25 times, example use it to get into a National Park that has a campground, the Wife wants to go to town, if she has the pass no problem, if she doesn't you get to go, we spent a week at Wahweap Lake Powell, she used hers 4 times on that trip alone, it's a no brainer and there lifetime
