Poor Extended Warranty Company
Just want to pass along a bit of information to my fellow members. I Purchased our 2013 Big Sky at Walnut Ridge RV located in New Castle, Indiana. I opted to purchase the extended warranty ( I usually do not waste my money) they offered. The company they spoke so highly of, N. Compass RV (now known as PreseRVe ), is horrible do not waste your hard earned money !! I really have not had any major components to repair or replace, thank god, but I recently have had items break and as usual the warranty company is denying payment. The items are not on the list of exclusion parts and they still refuse to cover the parts. So in short stay away from this company and if anyone is going to Walnut Ridge, don't let them sell you this bunch of BS !!

You need to tell us what broke.
I don't buy ESPs. I would rather insure my stuff myself. If the insurance co can make money on ESPs so can I. That is just me a lot of people like the security of an ESP.

Sorry I didn't mention what broke. The struts on the storage door broke and pulled the brackets out of the inside door leaving huge holes in the wood, nearly to the outside fiberglass shell. Then my steps failed and broke in two different places. I tried to repair them but they are now bent. Clearly a mechanical failure, they have denied both claims.

If you happed to say during the course of your conversation with the warranty company that the failure was a result of poor design the warranty company will probably deny the claim and refer you back to the manufacturer.

I can afford to buy a 7 year extended warranty around about 2K.I can not afford to pay for one or two large repair bills.

I'm with Rich all the way, with something as complicated as the Montana including the $$ of repairs and parts, the investment is well worth it for me too.

Well good news !! After 3 denials and a whole lot of me complaining, the warranty company is going to replace my steps !!!! I had to threaten to call my State Attorney Generals office for consumers, but they eventually agreed to replace them. One victory at a time i guess.

Curious what reason did your warranty company for denial. Our warranty paid to repair our steps without question.

In this 13 3402 delivered May 2012 we have had one Cooling unit in the fridge fail, 4 holding tanks, one Hot water tank and the steps fail. repair or replacement was all covered by our extended warranty less deductible. The cost of the repairs and replacement more than the cost of the Warranty. The same applied to our 06 3400 over 7 years. It is however individual choice.

The DW favors extended warranties; I don't. I find the warranties have too many "weasel words" and exclusions.

It is the consumers responsibility to read and understand what they are buying. They are not really Extended warranties but service contracts covering specified items.
If in doubt as to the wording ask questions, ask your dealer what Extended warranties they accept or prefer. We have not in 10 years and two extended warranties' had a single problem in coverage and used them many times.

I second that motion on Preserve, they don't cover anything and don't honor transfers.

I'm with you Phil - to many "weasel words" - always looking for ways to get out of taking care of "stuff". My Joy would not leave the driveway without some sort of warranty. In October of this year (RV 1 yr old), we'll be shopping for the ESC. I'll make sure to stay away from PreseRVe. Most likely buy the full meal deal from Coach Net.

Preserve sent a refund but pro-rated the first year while the RV was under dealer warranty. What a rip off!!!

Extended Service Contract
I have been on before and participated in a discussion on extended service contracts / extended warranty agreements. I am getting closer to making a decision. I would like to some final input from some of you veteran RV owners.
I currently have Compass and I am finding out that the repair shops do not really like working with them. So, I have finally settled on Viking with Wholesale Warranties or Xtraride with Eagle Vision RV.
Any thoughts from my fellow RVrs?

BBB reports that the majority of Extended warranty complaints are attributed to the consumer not reading the extended warranty contract and not understanding what is in it.
We have been using extended warranties ( service contracts) since 2006 on our two Montana's with not a problem.
We have used RV Shield, Good Sam and now Cornerstone and used all of them with no troubles.

Self insure....
That is our plan also. If we never spend the money... we still have it, not an insurance company or private, for profit warranty company.
