Molasses Cookies
-GRANNY’S MOLASSES COOKIES-
Mix together:
¾ Cup Crisco
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg
¼ Cup Molasses
Sift together:
2 ¼ Cups Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
¼ Teaspoon Salt
½ Teaspoon Cloves
1Teaspoon Cinnamon
1Teaspoon Ginger
Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture. Place dough in refrigerator for 1 hour or until chilled. Roll in to 1-inch balls and then roll in granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheet. Dip the tines of a fork in water and press across the cookie ball to form a ‘criss-cross’ design. Bake at 350 degrees in the center of the oven for about 7 minutes. Makes about 7 dozen cookies. Do not over bake. I remove mine from cookie sheet and place in Ziploc bags (without cooling on a rack) and put them in the freezer immediately. They tend to stay chewy when thawed.
